Do you want to make CAS custom content or do you want to rip sims from the game? If the former, in main menu click on CAS. If the latter, look up videos on YouTube, this involves a different program.
Thanks, I'm using sim ripper, but I had to switch computers because it only works on windows. I'm still trying to figure how to save them with color, texture, and how to load them with the correct occult.
I recently ripped a sim so I could render it in Blender. Here are the instructions I wrote for myself.
*Make your sim in CAS and place in a world.
*Go into Household Data and delete every sim in the world as this will reduce Simripper's loading time.
*Save your game and exit out.
*Launch Simripper. If you get an error there is a txt file I have that lists the reported errors and what they mean. Sometimes, you can ignore the error. (I'll list the errors below).
*Find your sim in the left hand panel and select it then wait for it to load.
*Select "Solid and glass meshes and textures." This is needed if you have alpha transparency hair or anything that uses alpha transparency. It will separate the alpha transparency meshes into a separate mesh.
*Export a cleaned DAE file
* Just in case you have problems with a cleaned DAE file (visible seams/sharp edges in the mesh) export a non-cleaned DAE file, and an OBJ file.
If, for some reason, the cleaned DAE file has seams in the sim, (it shouldn't) use
this tutorial to transfer the normals. Note that the tutorial was written using Blender 2.78. A newer version can be used but the interface will be very, very different. Blender completely overhauled its interface starting with 2.80.
Here is the list of errors I wrote for myself:
- Can't find file paths. Must set manually.
- Can't use elevated shoes as the slot ray intersections were messed with in order to use the shoes without a slider.
- Some sliders may be using a "non-standard bone morph." Use SimsRipper version 3.14.2.1
- TS4SimRipper.Form1.UpdateSlotTargets(String& errorList) — This could be the elevated shoes issue. Use SimsRipper version 3.14.2.2
- Error setting up frame modifiers - May mean it can't find the game's files
- location:TS4SimRipper.Form1.SetupMorphsToSMOD(String&errorMsg) - May mean it can't find the game's files
- TS4SimRipper.DMap.ToMorphMap() ???
- TS4SimRipper.Form1.GetCurrentModel(Boolean skinOnly) ???
Possibly you can ignore errors. I had errors and ignored them and had no trouble ripping my sim.
I'm not clear on what you mean by " load them with the correct occult."
