Platforms with objects on and below?

I was hoping that we could eventually build below platforms and be able to create loft spaces, but that hasn't happened yet. If there is a mod for that, please point me in that direction! I've done several searches but haven't turned up anything.

I am not a talented creator, I mostly just recolor objects for personal use, but I have been searching for a way to turn an in game object into a functional/interactive platform. My current idea is to take an object like Lio's Labyrinth Awning (High School Years,) and modify it so that Sims can walk on and under it and interact with the objects there. I'd probably adjust the height to match one of the platform heights, I feel like getting a staircase to attach itself to the awning might be too much to hope. Also change the texture files to make it look like a floor with multiple swatches, but to do this I'll need help. Your guidance is appreciated!
