Hi. What do I have to do in order to make an object slide/connect to the table like a dining chair, and be usable by sims?

You'll probably need to give more details, but just cloning from the right kind of object is probably easiest. If you want the object to slot to a table like a dining chair, use a dining chair as your base.

The thing is, if I try to clone the chair and apply new mesh and textures, it appears glitchy in the game.

Glitchy how? Did you make sure that the slots are aligned properly?
