Hello.
I proactively apologize for being a bother, but I have researched the error and read several blogs, forums, and other sources, but I cannot find a clue or starting point to address the cause. I am hoping that someone familiar with the source code or programming in general, or has run into this before, has knowledge which I lack and can point me in the right direction here.
Put simply, S4Studio will not launch. At all. I know this is a .NET issue, but all my attempt to get it sorted have run into a wall. A screenshot of the error in Event Viewer, along with a screenshot of my folder tree (showing the version(s) of .NET that are installed) is below.
I have followed the troubleshooting suggestions from orangemittens , and have posted that below as well, as there may be some information there that may help. Any other information I can provide, do not hesitate to ask. I will be as prompt as I can providing additional information.
Every blog or forum I've found regarding the "Message: Failed to create CoreCLR, HRESULT: 0x80004005" error suggests it is a programming issue, but I don't believe that to be the case, since 17 pages worth of people in this thread are able to get S4Studio to at least launch and run to some degree. My usual sleuthing has come up frustratingly empty.
I am fairly certain that this will turn out to be some kind of function toggle, registry key edit, or other ridiculously easy-to-fix error, and that the solution will cause the heel of my hand to impact my forehead with an alarming velocity.
Make sure you have the current version of Studio.
Sims 4 Studio v3.2.2.2 "Star"
Make sure your operating system has all current updates and that your computer is functioning properly. This includes your anti-virus software.
Windows 10 Pro 22H2 19045.4651 with Windows Security. No 3rd party AV/AM installed.
Make sure you have the correct version of the .NET Framework installed.
ASP.NET Core Runtime 6.0.32
.NET Desktop Runtime 6.0.32
ASP.NET Core Runtime 8.0.7
.NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.7
Make sure you are using a supported version of Blender.
I have downloaded both Blender v2.79b and Blender v4.2LTS, but I have not (yet) installed either, as S4Studio never far enough for Blender to be the issue.
Also, while your list of supported versions suggests I should use v2.79b, Blender's website is very pushy about using v4.2LTS, but I'll look into that later.
Make sure your game files are in good repair. Make sure your game is kept up to date with patches.
S4Studio never gets far enough for game files to come into play, but yes.
Make sure Studio has the correct path to your game files.
Again, S4Studio never gets far enough for game files to come into play.
Several errors can be resolved if you close Studio, delete your Documents/Sims 4 Studio folder, and then restart Studio.
This folder does not as yet exist, because S4Studio never gets far enough to create it.
