Hello!
I have a problem with my object, and no matter what I do, it does not change. My object has a weird shine on it, even with custom specular map, and even with a total blank specular map. Furthermore the lights are completely off on it. Especially with this lamp.
What I already tried: - deleted the occluders - cloned another object (this is the second one) - tried to add more edges - marked sharp edges - made the faces flat
Nothing worked. It is just simply shiny and weird. In the previous version, i had an inset face on its side. Now then, the shadows got crazy!!! So I gave that up, but now it is just shiny...
I am using Sims 4 studio 3.1.6.3 (Wishes) because I had problems with the newer version. Also, I make the meshes in a newer blender, then do the joining in the 2.7a.

Hi. You need to split sharp edges. Switch shading to solid and add Edge split modifier. Adjust the angle if it splits too much.
You are using an extremely old version of s4s, which can give you problems. What issue did you have with the new one?

Thank you so much! That did help! Now there is nothing wrong with the light! In the newer sims studio, my object didn't appear several times. And when somehow it did, the mesh could be seen everywhere (even in the game). Now I know the visible mesh can be caused by video card setting. That I did manage to fix i think. But I admit, I only tried it months ago. I probably should try it again, if the one i am using is this outdated :( Anyway, thank you a lot again for helping!

You can toggle Disable hardware rendering in s4s settings to fix these type of issues

Now sadly, I also have this problem with the bed. The frame is okay, but the mattress... I use the original EA mattress from which I cloned my object, so that I dont mess up anything with the weight. I cannot use the edge split modifier on this, because then it becomes too sharp everywhere. I tried to do it manually, but i feel like i have to edge split every row, so it finally does not shine.
I checked out some professional cc bed, and they dont even have edge splits, yet their mattress does not shine in game!!!
Why is this happening? T.T

If there are no sharp edges, the mattress does not need to be split. You need to switch Shading to Solid and increase the angle until dark shadows disappear If this wont help, share your files please

I had to set the angle to 62, because that is only when it is not too sharp. But even after this, the mattress is still shiny in game. Now I also tried out different shaders in the studio. If I set it as "painting" it does not shine anymore :D I just don't know if that messes the game up... So now i reverted it back to default. Your specular maps are incorrectly made. Basically, the opacity of the specular dictates the intensity of the sun's reflection. So the more opaque the image is, the shinier it is, especially outdoors. If you want to make a blank specular, create a blank 4 px x 4 px image, save as png, import in s4s.

I didn't know that those specular maps are bad I downloaded the blanks from a tutorial, and i also make my custom ones as DDS (editing each Red, Green, Blue channels, plus adding an alpha). So that is outdated right now? Or I am just making it wrong? :D Also, sadly even after I added a 4x4 .png full black 100% opacity as specular, the mattress is still shiny. :( Thank you for pointing out that the specular maps are wrong! I will try to somehow work it out.

Nothing has changed in how specular maps work. The map must be transparent. White alpha - 100% intensity of the sun. Black - 0% intensity of the sun.
