The tutorial you watched was very unfortunate, forget everything said in it.
- if you sew your garment to fit the body instead of stretching over it, you will have an easy time cutting and adapting it. In the future,
try to import a maxis garment in MD and modify it instead of making completely from scratch. Because the dress is too tight, the leg will most likely clip into it because they are too close to each other;
- in MD make garments
in quads and keep particle distance high;
- try to split your garment in smaller pieces, it will be easier to fit them in the uv space without shrinking them. Bigger uvs = better texture quality;
- if you're making a dress, all data must come from a dress of similar shape. You transferred it from a lingerie set, so the skirt behaves like two legs instead of a skirt;
- dresses are vertex painted with two colors. It is best to transfer it instead of painting manually;
- transfer all data with Nearest face interpolated;
- all areas of the body covered by clothing must be deleted. The uvs of your garment must go into that freed space. Before you start re-arranging them, assign a template and shrink the garment's uvs with S Y 0.5;
- the garment must be double-sided where the inner side is visible, only there. The uvs of the inner side must be moved away from those of the front;
- bake textures with the body in the scene and the floor, it will look more complex this way;
- check how your garment works in-game first before making extra swatches. If there is a problem, you may have to re-do everything and those efforts would be for nothing.
If your computer can run blender 4.2, try adapting your UUU dress specifically following the video linked below:
- go back to MD, open a file with UUU dress, select all UVs, undo Remesh, it only makes things worse;
- switch to quads, increase particle distance. It has no details that need to be preserved through mesh, there is no reason for the wireframe to be this dense;
- export as thin and weld;
- download blender 4.2, install in the recommended location or on the d drive;
- in s4s settings change blender path to blender.exe in the installation folder of blender 4.2;
- clone a maxis dress of the same length as UUU dress, export the blend, open;
