Hi everyone.
I thought it would be a good idea to do a WIP for this project that I've been working on, as I know others are or may be interested in doing Medievalish/Vintage overrides too.
I am getting close to finishing a first set of 12 items that will be available as overrides with coordinating deco objects.
1. large cutting board -almost done complete
2. kitchen knife - complete
3. spatula - complete
4. fork/cake fork - complete
5. spoon - complete
6. mixing bowl -may change textures does not show up on all bowls yet
7. olive oil -override needs to be tested
8. & 9. culinary bottles 2 & 3 - overrides need to be tested
10. extract bottle - complete
11. spice bottle - complete
12. coffee bag - complete
By "complete" I mean that I am satisfied with the textures and both the override and the deco object show up in the game properly. I may need to add thumbnails or tweak the description for continuity within the project though.
Here is a pic of most of the items:
The cutting board and the little spice bottle next to it have had the textures tweaked slightly from what is shown in the picture. The green glaze on the cutting board sauce bottle has been made to look a little more realistically dripped over it and the cork top of the spice bottle has been changed so it looks corked instead of screwed on. Sorry about how badly the spice bottle shows up in the pic. It actually looks much better than it appears here.
I was able to completely retexture it because it has square sides, but my talents do not extend to doing the same for the more irregularly shaped cooking bottles in the back row. They are an improvement, so I will still offer them "as is." I still need to figure out what I need have my test Sim cook to see them as overrides in the game though. I've only seen the extract bottle so far.
Here is a better pic of the fork and spoon textures:
The forged and turned iron ones will be available as an additional recolor on the deco objects. They look terrible as defaults though, so I redid them in Shastakiss pewter for the override.
The thing I am most pleased with is the kitchen knife, which has a bone handle. The forged iron looks really good on its blade too.
Here it is as the override with the cutting board:
For some reason I forgot to put the coffee bag in the first pic. Here it is as the override:
There are two more sets I intend to do.
I already retextured the cook books, but they will require changes to the UI and I am waiting for that function to be added S4S to finish them.
More immediately, I intend to do another set of about a dozen other kitchen items.
1. sponge as pile of rags (override only)
2. baster (but I have no idea of what textures I would use...)
3. grill brush
4. meat tenderizer
5. small prep/cutting board
6. bread on cutting board
7. tea canister
8. measuring cup
9. frosting bag
10. candy bag (maybe)
11. egg (override only)
That will probably be pretty much it for me. I believe motherof70 plans on doing the dishes and I think the pots, pans, and baking dishes are fine (at least, I doubt I could improve them).
Thoughts?? Suggestions on ways to improve??
If others are interested in doing European Medievalish stuff and have TS2 also, I encourage you to check out Sunni's stuff at Plumb Bob Keep. She allows others to use any of her textures and meshes for anything. (mail? toothbrush? anybody? anybody?? ;-)
I can't have both TS2 and TS4 on my computer at the same time though, so I'm just out of luck.
