Apologies if this has previously been answered.
I want to recolor one of the 5x5 rugs, but the texture multiplies itself so that only 1 quarter is required (does that make sense?) What do I need to change so that the texture is singular? I don't want the texture to have to multiple itself to cover the mesh.

I have no idea how "mirrored" UVs work (I've seen it in 2, but not in 4), but you can export the mesh and unwrap the UV yourself so that it can have the size and form you desire.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that, but to no avail, the texture still seems to mirror :(

Alternatively, you could use the Studio Recolorables 4 x 4 rug and resize it. There is a tutorial in the Build/Buy/Tuning section that shows how to resize a painting and the same method will work if you want to resize a rug. It will be a little bit easier to do the rug because, unlike paintings, rugs have no shadow plane mesh to consider. The Studio Recolorables rug is templated and the map is not mirrored.

Thank you OM, that is most definitely my next plan.

I've written a short tutorial showing how to remap a mirrored rug and posted it HERE.
