I can tell that a lot of people have posted with questions about issues like, but for some reason I can't view the individual threads. I'm trying to make my first mesh--I want to turn a hat 180 degrees--and can't figure out how to make blender files open in S4S Sugar or convert them into a file S4S Sugar can recognize. This is the error message I get:

"bump" I still haven't figured out an answer for this. Is it possible I need an add-on for Blender or s4s? Or that i am missing somehting obvious? When I go to save a file in blender, the only save format I get is .blend. I've tried the blender directory but haven't found an answer.

Hi professorlilith, usually when Studio gets an error that has the message "System.IO.InvalidDataException: Not a Sims package" It means that Studio was expecting a sims package file but got something else. Are you saving your blender file as a .package instead of .blend? Studio imports .blend files and replaces the mesh in your currently opened package with the ones in the blend that you choose but it cannot read a blend file directly as if it were a sims package.

Hi, MisterS. I think I understand you; I'm going to try with a different tutorial today to see if I really do. So, Sims4Studio can only read a .blend file if I have a s4s mesh already open in S4S? I'll let you know if I've understood. Thanks for taking the time to answer my newbie question.

This is the highest quality LOD that is seen from close up in the game. If you click the export button under that drop down Studio will export the LOD and the format it exports it in is .blend. If you open that LOD.blend in Blender you will see the meshes. If you then make a change to the mesh or meshes and save your .blend you can go back to the Meshes tab section in Studio and click the import button to bring the LOD with your edited meshes into the .package.

Check. I've done this under multiple different names, too, and none of the .blend files open.

---If you open that LOD.blend in Blender you will see the meshes.

Check. Yes, and then I've made changes to the mesh. At least, I'm pretty sure I'm seeing the meshes; they respond the same way other peoples' meshes do in youtube tutorials.

---If you then make a change to the mesh or meshes and save your .blend

again, done this

Check, I think. I've tried leaving s4s open throughout the meshing and then importing the changed mesh back to the original cc creator's mesh I'm modifying. I've tried opening the .blend file on it's own, just right clicking and selecting "open with" s4s. I've also tried with an adult-to-child hair, a hat, and a sofa. I didn't modify the rig at all with the hat or the sofa; that was sort of an accident with the hair.

...and that's when I get the error message.

You cannot open a .blend file using Sims 4 Studio. This will result in the error you posted above. The only file format Studio can open is a .package. If you attempt to open any other type of file using Studio Studio will give you a message saying that file is not a Sims 4.package.

In order to bring your edited mesh back into Studio you need to click the Import button that is present on the Meshes tab.

After clicking this button navigate to where you saved the .blend with your edited mesh and select it.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say none of the .blend files open. If you are seeing the meshes in Blender the .blend file did open. Blender is the correct tool to use to open a .blend. Studio imports .blends and incorporates the meshes inside them into a .package. Just as Blender cannot open a .package Studio cannot open a .blend. The two tools communicate via imports and exports.

SOLVED! Thank you for your patience, orangemittens. While walking myself slowly through your tutorial on resizing and rotating a painting, I discovered the problem was with my copy of S4S. I must have erased something while adding and subtracting items in my Program Files (x86) file. I downloaded another copy and the problems disappeared. You'll find my first successful blender mesh in the creator studio.
