A community tested version of Sims 4 Studio is one which has been posted as a beta version prior to being posted as a community tested version. Most beta versions of Studio are in a beta phase for at least a week and sometimes this period is longer. During that time anyone in the community can download the beta version and give it a try. There is a thread available so that if problems with the beta version are encountered they can be reported. All bugs that are reported will be fixed before the beta version is labeled community tested.
Once a version has been labeled community tested no further changes are made to that version unless those changes are necessitated by an unexpected bug. All new features that Studio offers are first presented in the beta version so that they can be tested.
What all this adds up to is that a community tested version is as close as we can get to something that will have no bugs. People of all skill levels have tried it, they've created all kinds of things with it, and any problems reported with it have been fixed. This is the version people who are very new to Sims 4 modding should use and it is the version for people who don't want any uncertainty in the outcome of their work. If you are making something to share that can be made with a community tested version this is the best version to use to make it.
NOTE: following an EA patch, the community tested version is not updated and, at those times, there is no community tested version available. This is because changes to Studio that needed to be made for the patch need to be community tested before that version can be called community tested. During those times everyone is welcome to download the beta version of Studio. The beta version of Studio will have the updates needed to get Studio running after an EA patch.
