i've just recolored my first hair (this one to be exact) and they aren't showing up in game? i added the swatches to the original hair, but in game the only new swatch is a duplicate of the color i used as my base for all of them (the ea dirty blonde shade). can someone help me understand what i'm doing wrong? i was following holosprite's hair recoloring tutorial on youtube.

Hi plantghost, welcome to Studio forums. I'm not familiar with that tutorial...could you walk through the steps you took that lead to this unwanted result? Alternatively, please take a look at one of the recolor tutorials here at Studio forums. There is one on how to add swatches to a custom hair so that your new swatches show up in the same catalog entry as the custom hair HERE, and there is one showing how to make a standalone recolor of a custom content item HERE...that one uses hair as the example but it will work for any CAS item.

Thanks for your response! I actually followed the same steps as the first tutorial that you linked, except instead of pasting on a new texture in photoshop, I used some of Pooklet's color actions. The new swatches look fine in s4s, but they don't actually show up in CAS (other than the one repeat of the dirty blonde shade which is the shade I cloned in the beginning).

Make your each hair has a differnt swatch colour. If you leave all of these for example white only 1 colour will show up. If that's not the problem maybe post the package so we can have a look.

They do all have different colors. I would love to post the package but I'm unsure how to post it without the mesh since I didn't do a standalone cas item.

The new swatches look fine in s4s, but they don't actually show up in CAS (other than the one repeat of the dirty blonde shade which is the shade I cloned in the beginning). Each color action needs to be run over "volatile" as a base to show up per pooklet's notes on using the actions. Did you do that? I'm not sure if this would explain the problem, but the apparent fact that volatile was the only one to show up makes me think it's possible.

Well that one actually didn't show up either. The one that's showing up in game is just a duplicate of the base game dirty blonde shade. But yes, I did run Volatile as a base on each shade. Also, I was asking how to upload it without the mesh because I know I'm not supposed to include it when I upload anything. I'm not sure if my package has the mesh in it. I uploaded it to Dropbox here. Thanks for everyone's help!

Hi plantghost, I looked at your .package and there is only one swatch in it. To add another swatch: 1. open your .package and click the Add Swatch button, 2. import one of your new images into the .package and select a catalog swatch thumbnail color for it, 3. click the Save button. Test the new hair in the game.

WHAT. I had like 25 swatches in it. Welp, at least now I know why they weren't showing up in game. Don't know why they didn't save though. I saved it in two different places and they're both missing all the swatches I spent so much time on :'-( Well thanks anyway!

Is it because I only clicked save at the end of creating all the swatches instead of after each one? I didn't think it would be a problem because they were all showing up when I went to save it.

That should not be a problem. I always save at the end when I am done with all swatches. Did you have S4S open twice by accident? Because then it won't save.

Oh, maybe that's what it was! Luckily I still had all my .dds files saved so redoing it only took a few minutes to redo them all. Thanks for everyone's advice!
