Hi, I thought I'd give a new tank design a try and it's working out quite well apart from the plants and the water. The animations don't seem to be carried across during cloning. I thought at first it was a uv issue but even after leaving the uv maps on the shadow lods there is still no animation on these items. It doesn't look too bad, the glass is very clear which means the fish can really be seen in full colour. I would like the plants to move even if the water is out of the question if it's possible. After some trial and error I used the EA glass, water, rocks and stones meshes in every lod so they are exactly as they are in the original. I haven't moved or resized these at all. The bubbles in the corner work as do the added fishes. Any help would be appreciated, I should say I know absolutely nothing about animation and assumed they would carry over during cloning. Thanks for reading

Plants don't move in fish tanks, they are plastic, and there is no current.

I couldn't find any animations for either, but in the maxis tanks the plants appear to sway like the trees and the water seems to ripple like the pool. There are two meshes for the plants that are identical that I guessed produced the sway effect. The water is a complete mystery to me, I noticed that the base of tank had a ripple light effect like the water which looked a little odd until I read about the vertex paint/lights, so I made the base black (vertex paint) and that contained the light effect to the inside of the tank. Maybe I have this wrong and the movement effects are produced by the lighting? Apart from the above the tank does look ok. I'm wondering if I should upload it for a test run or try my luck asking at the EA forum first. Thanks for replying MisterS.

I love it How did you get the fish to be realistically small? Plus if I move the bubbles they will still work? I have had fish tanks for 30 years so I like to add them to the game but it's the first time I have really done anything with water or plants. I don't have a real understanding of how either work yet.

The fish are just stock size same as the fish bowl, and yeah you should be able to move the bubble, I made them smaller no issue.
You can pull mine apart and do what you want with it if you want to see what you can do, I don't care.

I have not used the little bowls a lot as the design is not my thing, but I do have a couple of designs in mind for them too. I took those apart but got no further in the water/plant quest. Thanks I have DL your tank, now things here are a little slower I will have a look. I love the fact that you have made it a totally individual design object. Its very hard to achieve that effect with just re colours

Ok I give up with EA forums I cannot find any other bloody threads to post in. So for anyone reading this if you have any suggestions about which files/animations that make the water and/or plants appear to move in the EA tanks or maybe know someone who does, I would be very greatful. Thank you
