Hi. I'm trying to remesh a bathroom mirror and i've created it so it has shelving. The mirror I cloned it from didn't have a slot file so I had to create one. It doesn't work and items cannot be placed on it in game. Anyone know what the problem is? I'm assuming the slot resource I made isn't properly linked. I suppose my query is, is it possible to add a slot file to this type of object and if so, how to go about it. Thanks.

Hello, you may want to check THIS and THIS tutorials. If that doesn't help share the .package and someone can take a better look.

The bone names are incorrect. There needs to be an underscore in the front of them for the deco slots.

If you're slotting an item that has no slot resource you will need to add one and then reference it in two places within the Object Definition resource. The next version of Studio will add a slot resource to slotless items automatically so I haven't bothered writing a tutorial showing how to do this. It isn't difficult to do if you don't want to wait for this feature to be added to Studio's slot editor. Add a slot resource to the .package and give it a unique hash...you can use the same hash the Rig resource has if you want to. Once you've added the slot resource, click the first Object Definition resource, and click the Edit Items button in the Components section. Add a slot component to the list: Save that and then click the Edit Items button in the Slot section. Add the slot type number and your slot resource's instance hash into the corresponding fields and save. You will need to repeat this for each Object Definition so it's easier if you do it before you start adding swatches. I added a slot resource to the mirror cabinet I made a short while ago if you want to look at a mirror item that has an added slot resource for reference. If you don't want to do this edit though this feature is already in Studio's alpha and the beta should be out soon. Also, Brujah is correct, you need to name the slots so they match EA's naming convention.

Thanks everyone! I think i'll wait for the new version of Studio if that's the case. I have a lot of other unfinished projects to get on with in the meantime.

OM. is that step also needed on the jackpot s4studio version? I mean, I'm trying to add slots to a tub. If I follow the steps on the tutorial you made,do I need to add a new container?

These steps are needed if you're working with a .package that doesn't have a slot resource and you're using the current beta version of Studio (2.7.0.1). By slot resource, I do not mean slots. What I mean by slot resource is, if you look in the Warehouse, there is no slot resource on the resource list. The slot resource is what contains the slots you add. If the .package has no slot resource, adding slots will make a bunch of slots that are not really connected to the .package in a way the game will understand. This will make those slots non-functional in the game. The steps above manually reference the new slot resource to allow the game to recognize the slots you put into that slot resource. Studio 2.7.0.2, the next beta, will add a slot resource automatically if you add slots to a .package that has no slot resource. That is, the new feature automated the steps above. I have tested this new feature using mirrors that have no slot resource but I have not tested it with a tub. In theory, it should work the same but, with EA, you never know until something is tested. This is why, when a new feature is added, it's released in beta first before going to community tested. That way, people who want something that is almost sure to work don't run into a feature that we haven't been able to test completely ourselves in a reasonable amount of time. Since there are a lot of items in the Sims 4 object catalog it just isn't possible to fully test them all and get new features out in a reasonable amount of time.

Hi nikadema, the newest version of Studio is out now and it will automatically add a slot resource to a .package that lacks one once you start adding slots to the item using the rig editor. The steps I described above are no longer necessary and I recommend that instead you grab the latest version of Jackpot (2.7.0.2).

I got it! For the tub, I just had to add a new slot entry on the slots container. I took your sink as a guide, OM :D And it worked!
