Hi all, I have rather simple question - is there any way to make a custom pose without using blender? I have rather good experience working with various 3d modeling/rigging/animating packages and never have seen most pathetic excuse of 3d tool as blender. Yes, I l know it's free. I agree it may be a matter of taste... but still. In my opinion it is worst thing. So the question is quite simple - I've seen several tutorials on making custom animation for Sims 4 using pose player and all of them use blender for animation. So, do other options really exist? Is Sims 4 Studio able export/import any different formats? Or at least, is it possible to create animation in other software, like iclone, motionbuilder, you-name-it and then import in Sims 4 Studio - or everybody is just convicted to use most abominable s***ware, called blender?

If you can export a FBX then technically yes but you have to import it into blender as a go between. Unless andrew wins lotto and buys all the animation/mesh software in existence we are all stuck with what I assume you meant "software called blender"

MisterS, Thanks for answer. I am aware of possibility to export\import fbx files, but anybody tried? In many cases even just exporting and then reimporting rigged meshes may cause bunch of problems not to mention animations. Besides, there may be some game specific details that may cause re-imported meshes do not work etc. So did anybody try this way, or it is some theory only? Thanks.

I wouldn't know if anybody has tried, it would take someone with the knowledge of motionbuilder or the likes to try it and you are the only person I have ever seen mention it.

There is a thread here discussing the successful transfer of animations out of Blender for editing in another tool and back to Blender for import back to the Sims 4 .package. That said, our team does not support pose/animation editing in any tool but Blender. We aren't against it, but we have no way of testing/troubleshooting it and no plan to slow down the addition of new features by taking a detour into an avenue that will not benefit anyone but the few people who have an interest in and can afford other programs. If you have constructive comments about how to improve the Studio/Blender animation workflow we have a suggestions thread where you can contribute. We don't have the time or inclination to worry about a workflow involving any other 3D editor.
