As I removed doubles on a shoe created by MA$ims4 (Mr Antonieddu) in Blender 2.70 I noticed the skin colour between the leg of the mannequin and the foot is noticeably different with a distinct line between the two. Is there a way to make them the same or have them blend more smoothly

Welcome to the forum, please show us some images and/or share the .package, it's hard to tell what you mean just from the text.

Thank you for your reply. If the behaviour seen in the image is normal for Blender I apologise but any advice is helpful to me.

Yes that seam between different groups on the viewport is normal. If both, feet and legs were in the same group and there's a visible seam (solid view, instead of texture) then you need to remove doubles. i think that the problem with ma$ims shoes is that the person applies the weight and uv_1 to everything.. including the skin.. which breaks the information that is already there.. to fix that you need to delete the skin part and re import a base game feet.
