Hi everyone, I am trying to make a vase. This is my first attempt at making an object, and everything is new to me with 3D modeling, using photoshop and sims 4 studio. Mostly this is an experiment to see if I can do it, so I have not spent too much time on the mesh and LODs. Quite a bit has gone well considering I started yesterday, and I now have a 3D object working in game, which is the right size and places where I want it to, and I have made a few colours. Here it is: But I want it to be glass, and that just isn't working at the moment. I've been following this tutorial, which is the only one I could find, but for some reason, none of the menus match the ones I have for my object in sims 4 studio. Any help would be really appreciated. My object still needs some other work, like a bump map (and nicer colours. Maybe amber and dark green versions), but I'll see about these things later.

Hi okto, welcome to Studio forums. Things in the Warehouse have been updated a bit which is why the tutorial pictures don't look exactly the same as what you see in Studio. Here's the field you need to change: The thing is you will need to change that field for every VariantId in each of the non-shadow LODs so it's best to do this before you've added swatches. An alternative method would be to clone an item that already uses the glass shader and swap its mesh/textures for the ones you've already made.

I've never even Tried that yet...."GlassForObjectsTranslucent"...hmmmm. Thanks OM! I wonder what would happen with a Half/Half and FullBright....(Drool.). Experimento Zeit.....

Hi orangemittens, thank you for your very detailed explanation. I'm looking forward to trying it out, and will upload a photo when I have worked more on this item. I did figure out earlier how to make and apply a better texture, which was good, it suddenly made my object look a lot more like the other objects people make - but also revealed my mesh wasn't actually the shape I wanted! But that's ok, I can now make basic objects and will be experimenting more when I have a little time

Normally I just clone a base object just like orangemittens said. Really do not have time for all the shader change since its for all the materials. So a glass based object as base is much better

Hi AdonisPluto, thank you for your advice. I wonder now, does using a glass object mean I can make something that's part glass, part not glass? Some objects are like that, and it could be useful in the future. I followed the directions from orangemittens earlier, and this is what I ended up with: I wanted to make those big vases to put on the floor, but I put them on the table here just to show them in the photo. I did also need to make the texture transparent to get the glass effect right. I tried to get it so that it looks like thick glass.
