I'm totally new to this and I apologize if I'm in the wrong section. Anyways, I've begun to dabble into making recolors for sims 4 managing to make a couple successful recolors with the help of tutorials but decided to try and recolor a bed for the first time and i ran into an issue, i'm hoping someone can help me out. Up close there seems to be nothing wrong but... When i move the camera around in-game this happens... (not sure if you can see it but the colors seem to bleed through other parts of the bed) I'm not sure what's causing it or how to fix it so any help is greatly appreciated. Also, if there's some kind soul out there who could help me make heads or tails of the double bed map layout (not sure what it's called. UV Map maybe?) I greatly appreciate it.

Yes, it's a UV Map - and you would probably be better off practicing opening the Double Bed Mesh in Blender and selecting the Pillows - Sheets - Matress,; seperately' and notice how they appear on the UV Map Texture. You can Re-unwrap each part of the Mesh and do your own Custom UV Map, setting it up whichever way you choose, just keep in mind that the UV Maps are 214x214 / 512x512 / 1024x1024 and so on. You will also want to keep the Bump and Spec the same size as your Custom UV Map. There are Several Tutorials Here on S4S to Help you - Don't read just 1...Browse through them all and Take your Time learning - No Rush. Also keep in mind: Changing these Model Lods to, "00000000", will help keep the Object visible, when Zooming in and Out. -Happy Modding, Rock On!

stevenssimsstuff I didn't think we could change the bedding uv map? I have never had any success with that, it works in game to look at but they sleep on the covers, or no animations. I had been thinking about really trying to learn more about the bedding animation slots so I could move them to fit new bedding but havn't got around to it. Hi cmbaker16 it does look as if the bedding is bleeding through to the bed mesh which is odd as they are separate meshes. If you are re colouring then then uv maps should not be a problem. I have made a lot of double bedding so feel free to ask me anything about that but never single bedding apart from the separated mattress on here. I can't think why they would be different. I'll have to look now or die of curiosity

Hi cmbaker16, welcome to Studio forums. If you're making a standard recolor than I doubt the issue is a mapping issue. How did you save the images you used to replace the originals? As far as being able to see the UV map goes, you can clone an object as a recolor or as a 3D mesh (either will work), export the LOD 0 and open it in Blender, and take a look at the map. You can export the UV layout for use in your 2D editor too. There is a tutorial in the Build/Buy/Tuning section that shows how to make a recolor template using this method and it uses a double bed as the example item.

I saved the image as an .png all I had done was export the UV map for the bed and opened the .png in gimp played around to see what was what. Than I started to create just a standard re-color of the maxis bed. When I had gone in-game to see it that weird glitch happened lol.

I played around with a few other items and they had no issues in-game when I took a look at them. I have no idea how to mess with the actual UV map just know how to re-color them lol.

I've uploaded the .package file to mediafire, it really baffels me on why it's glitcing like it is, as I made a brand new re-color of a different bed and when I tested it in-game the glitch isn't happening to it so it's really strange. www.mediafire.com/?sg814c8obn515kp

Your Bed Frame doesn't look like it's Mapped right, it looks like someone has played with it - or, messed with the Original texture file....looks cropped.

oh no, I didn't crop anything. I wonder if someone in the house messed with the files out of curiosity. Well now I know what's wrong with it, thank you. I shall go remake my re-color now that I know the reason. Thank you so much

The image is not the right size: In some people's game this would cause a rainbow texture to appear instead of your image (based on graphics card) and in your game it's making the textures fit incorrectly on the lower LODs. The image needs to be 512 x 1024. For Sims 4 all images should be sized in powers of 2 (2 n). This means numbers including 128, 256, 512, 1024.
