I don't want a whole mess of rainbow colored sims out there (just not my thing...) but I was wondering, would it be possible to extract JUST the skin tones from the default alien section and add them as choices for humans. I have been playing an alien hybrid girl for a bit and all of her kids have never come out with her skintone, which I find is either fantastically lucky, or they took that ability away since the children of a half breed would only be a quarter alien. Now her half breed sister on the other hand, all of her kids have the skin tone of their mother and the half breed brother's kids are like my main focus character, all the skin tone of the human counterpart.
Am I just terribly unlucky in the skintone part? Is it possible to extract them easily? I've found I have no talent for CC creation, I can do the occasional paint or wall recolor, but that's about my limit of expertise.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

You can Make your own Skin Mod by playing with the RLES2 File, i played around with a CAS Hat and it makes my Sims Bald - (Just like the Aliens...ha!).
I suppose to actually Modify a Childrens' Skin Tone though....would need a Child's Hat, or Full Body Cas Clothing Swap-out. You can create CC, it just involves Time....Time is the Killer. (To be Honest, i really don't know if Extracting the Alien Skin Tone is even possible.)
What kind of Skin Tone scheme did you want to make? The same Greenish/Purple Hue as the Aliens?

I wanted to be able to have the default alien skins be available to the human side. It just seems like I've been tremendously unlucky with her children/teens. I know that I can use the mc command mods (which are heaven sent...) to alien-ize or human-ize a sim. So I have a sort of work around. The humans have a sort of EQ1 dark elf blue and an orc-like green color, but neither are like the aliens muted soft tones that I want. There are also a lot of skin tone CC out there that could give me upwards of 100 different colors (in just one mod), but none of the choices are exactly like the default colors of EA's alien skin tones. I'm probably just being way too picky, maybe the artist in me. It's mainly a curiosity that sent me here to ask if something were possible to easily grab the default alien skins. Using Photoshop and other artist rendering programs I'm generally ok with but Blender eludes me at every turn. Blender and I just can't seem to get along well. I tried some of the tutorials and could never quite get what I wanted. So I tend to stick with slight recolors or tiny modifications that don't require Blender. Thanks for responding. I'll keep looking around and see if there's something blatantly obvious that I missed. If I figure it out I'll post it here too. ps. I tried making the earrings once, that didn't go well... and the second thing I tried was shortening a skirt ended up in a very scary eyeball stretched out across her leg, but the skirt was shorter. I don't even know how I got the eyeball. Nightmare fuel, that one... lol.

Hi sparkmonkey, i know what you mean with Blender...When we were first able to start doing Objects with S4S, (Seems like, yesterday...Lod48 days), i drug my Feet getting into it because Blender was so Foreign to me. I was only accustomed to Milkshape from Sims2 Days - i Completely skipped the Sims3, the Sims looked like SPECIAL PEOPLE with SPECIAL INTERESTS. I didn't even really know how to Map correctly either, back then...Funny! I don't mess with Clothing...well, the Hat/s and Accessories i did figure out - with OM and Brujah's Tutorials, kind of read through and mixed them together...but the Only Reason i took the Time to do it: "It Captivated my' Interest", @ that particular moment. I suppose that is my Problem with diving into Clothing...it just looks Boring to me...haha! I hope that you eventually become more comfortable with Blender, my Trick was laying on the Couch and watching countless - "Beginning with Blender Vids", on YouTube. Most of them had nothing to do with Sims. Then, i started to do the - "Pause Vid", with Blender running in Taskbar and copy what the person was doing. If you only have an Hour a day, it will pay off eventually - But you have to be interested, or it's just a waste of Time - Never Waste your' Time! °Getting back to the Alien Skin issue....i will Poke/Prod around and Post here if i come across anything of interest too. Take Care, Rock On!

Played with, "Invert Image Colors", in Blender Tonight. Then, i took a Universal Childrens Wristband and shrunk it down into the wrist and added 2 Inverted Textures for a Quickee....It looks goofy because the Clothing and Hair are mapped with the Color too, would just have to Bake the Body Map Texture First and some touch up to get rid of that. Not sure if going the Hat route would be better - Baldy' route. Anyhows, will work on this more Tomorrow...Tired. °Here's a Funny Vid: Edit: I only dropped the RLES2 Opacity slightly and darkened the Texture a bit...a work in progress...

Back Home from work...i just kind of want to Gel-Out and sip this Beer....with some MooSick.
So, those colors from last night looked like Ghost skins - That's what EA did....they used invert color for Ghosts....hahaha! I figure the only way to get a Decent CC Alien Skin is to play an Alien Household and take some Screen Shots....i don't have an Alien Household....arrrgggg! (Can you even make an Alien Household in CAS? Must look into this....).
Blah, Tonight...perfect the Children's Universal Body Map - add in the Blank Alpha areas....that should keep me busy enough....trying to set-up a Work Flow in my Head; "Der-Dee-Der", Sing Along! I wish i could just snatch the Alien Textures out with S4S, but that's not how it works, yet.....as far as i know.
-Rock On!

Well, i got this far on the Basic Childrens Universal Skin Map: But when i went to look into the Aliens in the Game....i noticed a new Kids' Pak was released......so, this will be in a Holding Pattern, have to check the New Pak out. Edit: I forgot to mention that this skin stuff is all recently' new to me, espescially the Childrens skin - AND - Something strange when you use the latest Studio....when you Import the Texture, you can't see it...You have to check it in-game, so it's kinda Tedious.

It took me 4 generations before I got the abducted male pregnancy and he came back with triplets. You can make a whole family of aliens in cas and play them like a normal household. I wanted the story of abduction though.
Thanks for looking into this so much. I greatly appreciate your interest/curiosity. I will have to start looking at blender videos like you said. Think I'm just being too hard on myself for not picking it up as easily as I did other programs. I kind of figured that the kid stuff might change things around, so I'll just find some good blender tutorials and maybe see if anyone has some sims 4 skin tutorials videos out there that show step by step and try to apply them to kid skins. This all sounds so morbid, lol. SKIN the children and give them new SKIN! I'm either a burn ward dr. or a horror film star. hah.
Anyway. Thanks and Be sure to have fun with the new stuff.
edit: LOL, he's an x-men kid... send him to Xavier pronto!

I looked through some videos today and did not find any about skin tone, but did learn some about other types of skin details and other interesting things, but I did find a mod the sims link that talks about it here: modthesims.info/m/showthread.php?t=536841Inside it links back to somewhere on this site (big shocker huh? This place rocks!) where there are some template png files of skins. I am going to mess around with those and photoshop to see if I can come up with what I'm looking for.

Yes, you can find the Templates here on S4S for quite some time - Brujah even explains where the accessories go on the Map. My Template is a bit different because i kind of mixed it with an Adult Skin from a different project....still working it out, on Mapping in Blender. That one is not 100%, just a working Copy of the Bump and Rles Overlay.

I was able to get a skin tone on someone, but Some reason I can't duplicate the process. I've nearly got it. I think I just need to practice and read a bit more about the skins.
