Does anyone know if there is a specific setting within a window or door that tells the game to allow light to pass through it into an enclosed area?
With the recent upgrade to the lighting system I have discovered that a standalone door that I created, as well as two door default overrides I made, will not allow shadows to be cast through their glass sections unless an EA created door or window is also present in the same room.
The Sun will shine through when the doors are being held by the hand tool, and will also allow sunlight through when the colour picker tool is selected, but as soon as the doors are placed, the shadow casting vanishes.
If an EA door with glass panels, or a window is then placed in the same room, the doors once again allow sunlight to be cast through them.
I've cloned an original EA door that I know works as intended but I can't seem to find any difference.
As the doors do allow light through provided that an EA door or window is also placed in the room, it isn't a huge issue but it is still one that I would like to remedy if possible.

I thought that was just for the light "glow" that is cast into rooms? I'm talking about the actual sunlight from outside passing through and casting shadows of the door on the floor that was introduced with the Dine Out patch. Here's a picture to explain. On the left is my door being held with the hand tool. The middle is when the door is placed and the hand tool is empty. The right shows the door casting light again when a glass EA door is placed in the same room.

Would I perhaps be better asking over at the official forums to see if SimGuruModSquad could address this?

Would I perhaps be better asking over at the official forums to see if SimGuruModSquad could address this? Wanted to know if this problem has been solved as I am having this same issue! If a fix has been found at the official site, can a link to that be provided? Thank you

There is now a fix! It was completely my fault that it took so long. Turns out I never actually posted about the issue in the first place! D'oh! There is a flag within the Cutout "Info Table" resource that needs to be set. Find and click on the Info Table Cutout resource in the Warehouse tab and then click on the Edit Items button on the right. In the window that appears, scroll down until you see the NoOpaque option and make sure the checkbox is filled. Save your package and check in game. It should now allow light to cast through correctly. I'm very pleased to find that it is such a simple fix. The most difficult part for me was finding where to set the flag that SimGuruModSquad told me to try. Here's the official thread if you want to read it for yourself> forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/896224/new-indoor-lighting-system-and-cc-doors
