I've never actually played previous Sims games but I have watched tonnes of videos on them and to be honest, I think EA got lazy with the programming of Sims 4. It may be because I am learning programming, but I think that it's BS when they say that they could not make toddlers because of the size issues etc. It was really dissapointing when I found out TS4 did not include robbers, firefighters, toddlers, pets, open world, etc. I played the Sims 2 for a long time and the difference in what you get for what you pay is significant and very disappointing. We should expect more. I don't know how skilled or conscientious the programmers are, but the reasons for the lack of value was EA's business model, and then abandoning it well into production of the base game. Honeywell wrote a well referenced article about it here.

I'm not a Progger, my Cousin - Back in America, is a Progger of sorts - mainly Web-sites...the Problem/s with Gaming Proggers are the same as any Proggers, Management. The People who are in, "Charge", continually Exploit and Drain the Workpool.
I previously' sustained a mental thought that: "They have it all, the Best of everything...there is no Excuse.". My Cousin set me Straight - Mismanagement.
These Managers, (Can't say all of them, just going by what I've been told.), are like Wall Street Bankers - Only interested in the Short-Term, Quick Money Scheme. The Proggers get worked to Death and into Burnout, become disgusted...and move onto something else.
The Management has no Long-Term interest...because, "Hey, here's a New Batch of Freshly' Graduated Proggers that we can Exploit on the next Sims.". It's a, "Circle-Jerk". Literally.

This is all so sad :/ I've been playing Sims since it came out and sometimes I feel like I don't recognize the game anymore. Those news by Honeywell made real sense, I didn't know about that stuff. We get the patches and it's like they're finishing the game up as we play it, and breaking all CC in the process. It's simply shameful of EA to do something like this.

I agree with everyone above, I was pretty dissapointed with the game compared to the other ones- even the free play Sims on the phone for goodness sake! When they were asked why they didn't add toddlers they said it was because of some bs saying that they don't have the ability to program smaller kids? WTF? EVEN FREEPLAY HAS TODDLERS AND PRETEENS. These guys are meant to be professionals! I bet they're put to shame when the community come out with amazing mods. I would probably never play The Sims 4 again if it wasn't for CC and mods.

Totally, CC is now more than half of the fun I get with Sims. And yes, Seasons, plzzz

I read the Honeywell article above and was not surprised at all. I loved the Sims 2 and still do; it was in the end after 184 real mods, not objects, the perfect game. This one I feel is aimed at a young market which is odd because the kids aren't the ones spending the money its the adults. Its the adults making a great deal of the CC as well which keeps the Sims running. A lot of what they left out I don't miss. I have no intrest in playing families or kids thanks to the homework and some really disturbing stuff like the only child I ever played cried all night for what I could see no reason :( I hated the nannies and the clown in Sims 2 two, so rolled my eyes in frustration to seeing those were back to annoy the hell out of me. I am sure that these Sims are the neediest, most insecure, scared to be alone for even a couple of minutes, AI on the planet. New pack? I'd like to be able to live in beach property and swim in the sea. Or have a few chickens, cows, you know live off the land thing. If they make it rain my Sims will all have to have major work done on their houses as they sort of live outside oh and please, please more little island living with NO WALKBYS. 8-) EA guy got it wrong, I know Dining Out doesn't work the way its advertised and so I didn't buy it. We don't blindly buy whatever they throw at us.

i have to agree. while i love the art style of sims 4, i don't really dig all the stuff they removed. features they gave and removed just don't make sense at all, either way, top 3 picks for DLC would be
- Seasons - Pets - Supernatural
After all these seem to be the most popular and requested ones. we should be seeing them soon

I'm glad that article is appreciated by others. There are some other illuminating ones on that blog too. Well worth reading.
But Doh! I didn't even answer the question.
I would like Pets and hopefully similar to TS3. That was the only part of TS3 that my son played and I only ever made a few horses myself, but it was clearly done very well.
And everything you said about your game, freeasabird, is so similar to how I play too. I just put 2 lots in Oasis Springs that don't have a single closeable door or paned glass window in them, so I am not in a hurry for Seasons. But I would love more garden vegetables and farm animals that produce things for consumption and sale.

I really wanted horses back, farm animals and pets! Horses brought a unique way to share your ranch with other people online. I didn't participate in actual breeding them but I enjoyed looking at other peoples ranches and seeing new breeds and how people interacted with other ranches. I really miss those old expansions Makin Magic was one of my favorites, Supernatural, and Seasons. It's like the people who created that stuff disappeared and they replaced them with bots. I wish I knew why they wouldn't give the community what they want.

As I have said before, as a programmer myself I have very high expectations for TS4 and am pretty disappointed with the lack of care they put into the game :( well, at least it makes me want to become a better programmer c: Anyway, here is my updated list for things that I want in TS4.
. Toddlers . Pets . Robbers (I think that this is a very important element of the game to make it feel more realistic, but I believe that the chances of being robbed should vary on the price of your lot) . Open worlds (I mean, it doesn't have to be super open but at least on your street- it's pretty firetrucking rediculous that I have to spend 5 minutes on the loading screen just to get to my neighbours house) . Driveable cars (I mean, even Crash Bandicoot, a 90s game, had drivable cars) . Firefighters (after a recent episode where I spent 2 REAL TIME HOURS putting out a game, I think it's just utter poo that you have to either await the death of your Sims or put out the fire is just totally wrong. Also, babies cannot die in fire and they cannot be evacuated from the house because you cannot access build mode, IT FRUSTRATES ME SO MUCH. I mean, come on, we need firefighters- I can't be putting up with all of my adult Sims getting killed in a fire, leaving only kid sims so that I have to add a new adult to my family >:( ahhhhhhh)
