I made [ this ] dress last night, and was very pleased with it. I didn't have any problems with the pearls. So I decided to make another but it is flying everywhere in cas, almost split down the middle. It a basegame skirt with a basegame top, as well as pearl buttons (basegame pearl earrings) I removed all the vertex groups from the pearls before transferring weights ( which works with the dress from yesterday ) to the dress, as well with the bow, and I was very careful about everything. But no matter what dress I use to transfer weights from, it's flying regardless. It would be much appreciated if someone could take a look at the vertex groups and tell me if there is anything there that otherwise shouldn't be, Because I haven't had much luck figuring it out myself. Thank you in advance. [ download package file here ]

Update: Haven't figured out the problem, or which vertex group yet but I imported the mesh onto a different base and it works fine! I haven't added the waist bow back (which perhaps may have been the problem) and theoretically I could just flare out the base of this skirt to get the same exact effect as the original

@gohliad since it's late and probably everybody who can help is sleeping so despite of my little knowledge of clothes meshes I still took a look at your file and what I see that you need to fix uv_1. There are a few vertices on the bow are misplaced, you need to move them. Also you see those sort of round pieces above the main uv? It's your buttons, so you need to scale them down and move in place. If you are not familiar with Uv_1 check this tutorial. There can be more problems with mesh but let's wait what more experienced members say, But for uv_0 you definitely need to fix that bow.

I appreciate you looking at it. I usually test out the physical mesh to make sure it's working well with the walk cycle before I spend time on the uv map, though. I am familiar. I may have uploaded an earlier version when I was testing out the bones before mapping it because mine is as suite:

That is because you're talking about another UV map. Clothes have two. The UV_0, the one you apply the textures. That is the one you posted above. Then there's the UV_1 responsable for the clothes to work with sliders properly. That one doesn't look like the uv_0 and has its own specifications to make it correctly. That is the uv Feyona is refering to. You have a tutorial by Andrew telling what it is and showing some examples. (You also have the template images you need to follow) HEREThen, as Feyona linked you above. There's a tutorial by Elivah about a simple trick to make this uv map easily. It could be quite a lot of work to match the specifications but with this tutorial you will surely have no trouble with. HEREIf you have more trouble regarding the clothes post again. You need to also make the weight transfer and vertex paint to fully complete the project.

Thank you for the link, I know how to scale the uv_0, but I never knew about the seaming, which is super helpful. As far as the uv_0 I never made one for the blue dress since i was so concentrated ( Frustrated) on the weights, I never got to that point but the new tan dress does (Shown below)Feyona had me wondering though, where should I be placing the pearl "buttons"? I've never made anything with bows, or accents so I'm not sure. [ linhere is the new dress package file in case you want to take a gander at it ] I haven't imported the lod 1,2, or 3 yet.

I just checked your .package in the game. The problem about the sim body floating is most definetly a weight problem. You need to transfer the weight again. Have you tried the tutorial here in the forum made by Brujah?. And the other issue is the pearl buttons. They dont work with sliders. I think to solve this issue you can move them to place in the uv_1. In the picture you posted above, the pearls are not placed in the right place. You need to place them in the body map. The center one. It doesn't matter if it overlaps the other map. It will tell the game to move them when you move that area.I can try to make some pictures If you don't undestand me, although it would be later. Since I don't have much time now Edit: So after the weight assigment. You have the tutorial HERE. Be sure to delete your existing weights before transfering the new ones. HERE is the package to check what I did. As for the pears and the UV. I tried what I told you before but It doesnt quite work. It could be just the place they are located. I just made a planar map and place it in the front of the dress in the UV_1. If you guide yourself with Andrew's template you could get a better result. Maybe somebody know better how to do it.

cupidjuice I think you should place them right on the chest for UV_1 and stretch along x axis, this way they will move with breast sliders. You might need to do some testing to find the best place on the chest. Usually if I have question about UV_1 I clone similar EA mesh and look at uv_1 map of the game mesh to get an idea. And actually regarding the main UV I see that you placed the buttons outside of the dress uv map. I think you can place them right in the middle of the chest and redraw a texture a little bit. They are part of the mesh, not an accessory. Because somebody else might use that part of the map for shoes/other accessories and if they use it their texture will appear right on the buttons of your dress.

(like a monday, aka brain fart day)Thank you both tons for looking at it, I removed the existing weights and THEN transferred the weights and everything is working fine now. I'm working on the pearl button uv_0 right now, seeing what is the best placement... it will look a tad but funny with the pearls growing larger with the breasts/torso but it's much better than the pearls hovering around all crazy :P Thank you both so much! My sims will be very happy embracing the 40's/50's era
