Hi, first thank you very much for your tutorial but I don't know where I made a mistake, I tried twice and I can't find the A_default.dds for the thumbnail, the a_default.dds is missing. Should that file be there already or it comes when I start to create the painting? Thank you. No, I made that one myself, but you will find a download link in the description of the video on youtube or you can make this one yourself: Just go to File > New > Then fill in for both width and height 32 Pixels. If you got more questions, please ask. Even better is to ask questions on youtube in the comment section because I will read those even faster.

mousiejean, my suggestion would be to Google further until you find a tutorial out there that will help. I saw several when I tried. Perhaps one on YouTube would help you more.

Also, if your dds file is in a folder with uses a name with for example "é" this letter, it can't open either. Changing it to a normal "e" will help. But I don't know if that's the problem. I know this is an old thread, but i just want to say: OMG, thank you so so much. Ive been searching high and low on the internet trying to figure out why gimp suddenly wouldnt open dds files. Even reinstalled it, and the plugin, and then its just because my new project has the letter "æ" in the foldername. Youve just saved me from a lot of trouble. Thanks

Haha, you're welcome! Though I recommend using PNG files instead of DDS as it's much easier to use as there's no separate Alpha channel. A description on how to use that can be found in the first post in this thread.

Thank you so much for this awesome tutorial! You rock!
I am totally new to creating anything for the TS4 and this tutorial was easy to follow and my wall sticker/decal came out amazing! (Although I was having problems at first with my image wanting to stretch the full width of the mesh and distorting it. I only wanted my sticker to be about half wall width size, but I found a smaller mesh to use and that one worked perfect the first time).

I hope my other tutorials will help you just as good and if they don't then you can always ask your questions of course.

I can't figure out what I've done wrong. I saved the png and a transparent background and all but every time I upload the texture I have the outline\shadow of whatever decal I used for the mesh. In can see the whole item but there's lines of the original shape. I've changed meshes and done just about everything I can think of. Any clue?

Hi moonslittleowl, I'm not at home, but my first thought is to check to see if there is a shadow for the clone of the object you exported. I've done that, and forgotten to even look at the shadow texture.

In can see the whole item but there's lines of the original shape. I've changed meshes and done just about everything I can think of. Any clue? Hello moonslittleowl , There might be a bump map (texture) for your mesh which has to be made blank too. The bump map makes an object to look more 3D as it creates the illusion of small bumps, scratches or holes in an object. It's a grey-isch texture which you can find after clicking the Warehouse tab. For example, if you want to make your own version of the Decal frog rug (search for "1E50E" in the search bar in Studio), you can find 2 other textures (both grey-isch) when clicking the Warehouse tab. One of them is the bump or normal map which has both light as dark parts around the frog. Where darker parts will look to be lower then lighter parts. The other one is the specular map. This last one can make certain parts of the object to shine more then others. Again dark color > low effect, Light colors > High effect. To make these blank you can do two things, do it yourself, or grab the blank bump and specular maps provided here on the forum, which should be easier. So to get these click the following link which also will direct you to a tutorial on how to do this: How to add a blank Bump and Specular mapThe tutorial uses DDS images, which you can import without any problems into your project file. If you want to do this yourself when exporting as PNG you can simply erase everything on the textures. (So the checkerboard background in photoshop remains)
