Hi everyone, I think the latest sims 4 studio can add wall cutouts to any object, but maybe I'm mistaken? I've found out how to adjust it for windows, and I'm making a set at the moment, which is going pretty well, so I think I have that figured out. However, then I thought it would be good to make a fireplace with a wall cutout. So I tried entering data in the fireplace's 'Cutout Info Table', attaching a DST image, even exporting these from a window package and in to my fireplace package, but so far I've not been able to make any cutouts. Any suggestions would be much appreciated

splatI'm not familiar with making wall cut outs yet, but I think an option could be to clone a window and then import the fireplace mesh and tuning and then change the cut out info. But it's just a guess.

Hi Bakie, Thank you for this. Following your idea, I've been trying to turn a window in to a fireplace. So far I have extracted the fireplace object tuning and added its Tuning and TuningID in the window's Object Definition - which resulted in a window with a menu option to light it, but when I try my sims just wave and show a crossed out footsteps icon above them. So I tried extracting and adding the footprint, then rig and slot from the fireplace. Each time entering them in to the Object Definition, as I think that will make the object use them. The window does now place like a fireplace, but otherwise the inability to access it to light is the same. I'm out of ideas for now, but maybe will think of more later. If you, or anyone else has any ideas they'd also be welcomed I am considering making the fireplace out of two objects, one cloned from a window and the other cloned from a fireplace. A bit clunky, but maybe workable. It would also give me the option of glass fronts. Earlier experiments with moving the fire effect of the fireplace proved it could be placed anywhere I wanted - even really far away from the actual fire, so I should be able to place it in the recessed area behind the wall.

splatFor the fireplace to work as a fireplace, maybe you also have to add some tags. So go to the objects catalog line, then go to tags and click the edit item button. Maybe you can open a second Studio and open the tags line from a fireplace to compare those two. If they look different, add the needed tags from the fireplace to the "window". Besides that, I have no ideas at the moment, but if I will, I will add those too of course.

Hi Bakie, thank you for this. I have copied the tags from the fireplace to the window, but the object still behaves the same in game. I think tags are part of the puzzle, as it appears they do for example add the smoke effect to any chimneys present on the lot, so if I get this working I'll need them, but they're not the full solution to this. Maybe this fireplace-window can be made to work in time, but it's proving more complex than I thought.
