Hi Crashdodgers,
it would help to know which type of object you would like to modify. For changing a horizontal/landscape picture into a vertical/portrait picture, I remember having seen a tutorial in the tutorial section. Or do you wish to make things that usually stand on the floor lean against the wall - for example a sofa that somebody leaned against the wall to illustrate a moving situation?
The most basic answer to your question would probably be: export the mesh, make your modifications in blender, reimport it and make necessary modifications (i.e. modify the footprint, tuning, ...).

The primary objects that I am looking to change are the Tool Portal-Probe, as I want to try and merge it with something like a tv or computer so the it gives the effect of a heart beat and there are a number o different things that can be merged with like walls etc. I do have a picture of what it looks like but not to sure how to get it to show in post on here!

A picture would be helpful indeed. If you want to show a picture here, you will previously upload it somewhere else, for example at imgur.com as inabadromance pointed out in another thread. If you do have a tumblr, you can also link to pictures you uploaded there.

There is a mini-tutorial HERE that shows how to post a picture in the forums. It assumes you have online space to store the picture. If you don't have online space there is a tutorial HERE that shows how to get that to store a picture and obtain a usable link for posting.
