Hey!
I am trying to create a tattoo, but one that is not restricted to existing categories. Is there a way to make a tattoo that is in its own eleventh category?
To be even more clear, there are ten tattoo categories (TATTOO_ARM_LOWER_LEFT, TATTOO_ARM_UPPER_LEFT, TATTOO_ARM_LOWER_RIGHT, TATTOO_ARM_UPPER_RIGHT, TATTOO_LEG_LEFT, TATTOO_LEG_RIGHT, TATTOO_TORSO_BACK_LOWER, TATTOO_TORSO_BACK_UPPER, TATTOO_TORSO_FRONT_LOWER, TATTOO_TORSO_FRONT_UPPER). I want to create a tattoo that is not set as any of these categories and it is not replacing any other category, something that is independent as an accessory. Is there a way to do that?
The main purpose of this is to make a extra layer that can applied to the sim body. For example, when sims are dirty they have that black layer of dirtiness. I want something like that, something that doesn't override anything and is still on the sim.

hi! welcome to the forums! the problem here is that anything you make is going to replace something. For example, there's left wrist and right wrist slot for accessories. You can't create a third wrist so that you can use those two others. Instead, you use a ring slot. But then, you can't use that ring slot for something else. Get it?. What you can do, is make two versions of your item with two different categories each so that a person can choose which one works better for them.

Yes, thank you for the response, that is what my problem is and I understand the limitation. I've seem to seen in Sims 3 accessories that are completely independent categories and in Sims 4 it changed drastically, restricting everything to specific categories/sub-categories. Were you able to create new accessory categories in Sims 3 or what was the trick with that? Is that not possible anymore in Sims 4?

I can't speak for how it was/is in TS3, but as of now there's no way to create independent categories for accessories in TS4 :(

Regarding the comment above, as there is no way to do this in The Sims 4, I suggest putting the tattoo in an accessory slot like inabadromance said, but then the problem is when you want to use a ring, for example, and you put that tattoo on that certain ring slot, there is the problem that the ring would over ride the tattoo. However, if you have the time and can be bothered (as this takes extra time), you can always put your tattoo in multiple catagories. This is what someone did with eyelashes- they put them in the face painting catagory, but if you wanted to have facepaint on, you could also access the eyelashes from the hat catagory/accessory catagory. Just a thought to get round your issue
