I'm diving into meshing for the first time and the thing I want to create is a super simple plaid summer dress with a bow that has stitching details in the front. I'm able to make the approximate SHAPE I want in blender, but I have no idea how to add it to the actual mesh and even clicking i then join for the particular shape doesn't work.
Then I got to thinking, while there are some super good bases I could use in game it would be really cool if I could make the mesh from scratch. (I dislike the way EA makes their lightweight summer dresses fade into a black hole if you look up their skirt so to speak) However, EVERY SINGLE TUTORIAL only seems to cover modifying meshes (except for that earring tutorial OM wrote which had helpful information but not what I was looking for).
Basically, what I want to do is build a bow to my liking, attach it (and some seems) to the dress and/or make the dress base as well. Is there any tutorials that would help me achieve this or am I being too ambitious?

hi! The thing is that i haven't seen a full tutorial that explains everything that you need to know to achieve what you want.. but parts of each step.. There's many bows out there on hairs and clothing from EA already, so you can borrow those meshes and add it to your dress. Depending on the part they were taken from (for example hair) you'll need to re do their weight, uv_1, vertex paint and move their uv around to match your dress. Also, it depends on how you edited your dress. If you moved vertices around it's fine, but if you used the extrude option or created new vertices then you'll need to re do either the uv, uv_1, weight and vertexpaint. I suggest you reading some of the tutorials from the begginer and intermediate stages for meshing in cas. Some particular things would be:
