Hi there, I am seriously struggling to find out why I cannot find the Vertex weight panel in the property tab (pressing "N") in my Blender. The same as showed on this screenshot by inabadromance Do I need to install an addon or activate one maybe or is it supposed to work right away? I tried blender 2.70 2.77 on mac and windows and I was not able to find it in either of those. Also everywhere I found on the internet they always simply said that I needed to select a vertice in edit mode which was assigned t a vertex group and the wertex weight would then appear in the "N" panel. But it just doesn't for me. (And I need it to reset the values of a couple violet immovable vertices in a mesh I am tweaking) thanks

The feature you're discussing is a feature native to Blender, no addon is needed. What happens after you enter edit mode, select a vertex, and click the n key on your computer keyboard (not Shift + n) with the mouse in the 3D viewport window (the window where the mesh is)?

The "N" properties menu opens but there is no vertex weight in there -_- Or with the menus a bit clearer : I tried with the basic cube from blender as well. Assigned the cube to a vertex group : "group" Selected 1 vertex and "N" -> same result. Those screenshots and tests are from version 2.70 on Mac OS 10.11 I had the same results yesterday on my windows 10 computer. I definitely do something wrong. I don't see any reason for this to happen on 2 different computers/OS/connections. The only common data here is me -__- and the mesh I used actually.

I'm not really sure :/. Can you share that particular blend again?

Like I said, I have this problem with any blend. Even the basic cube with a vertex group assigned doesn't work.

How odd. Post a .blend you have to see what happens if someone else clicks a vertex. If the panel shows up then I guess the issue is narrowed down somewhat to being a problem with Blender.

I was going to reply another thread, which i needed to open blender for.. so as soon as i did, i tried on a simple cube.. and there was no vertex groups. That is because no bones where assigned.. since that panel only shows up if bones are attached to the mesh. Is it possible that no bones are assigned on your mesh? Anyway, a .blend is needed either way.

Well, the last blend I shared for exampleAlso for the cube I mentioned that you have to create a vertex group, assign it to the cube to test it. (Maybe you need to do more as it doesn't work for me anyway xD) I just tried with the exact same mesh as Inabadromance used on the screenshot I posted at the beginning and I simply don't have it. It makes no sense. A colleague at work installed blender 2.77 to check it out and doesn't have it either.

Zelrish I checked your file. I can see this panel when I choose one vertex. Here is saved file, check if you can see this panel.

Oh my god. Opening Feyona's reupload of my file I can see the option. So I selected another vertex and the option disappeared. Then I understood what I was doing wrong this WHOOOOOOLE time.
The problem was the way I select one vertex. Because of sometimes unwelded vertices I always use the "C" shortcut to select "single" vertices. Well that was the problem. I completely forgot I could simply right click to select a vertex -__________-
Thanks everyone for your help on this one :D Now I can fix the mesh I wanted to fix ^^

That makes sense. I assumed you were selecting in the standard way (right clicking the vertex). Just using just a box-select shortcut (b) will sometimes result in that panel not showing up even if the vertices selected share an assignment and have the same weighting. Blender is very particular about that panel.
