Hello fella Simmers. I am having a problem that I been working on for several days trying to troubleshoot it, but to no avail, I can't figure it out. My problem is when I do a recolor of clothing, and export it into Sims 4 Studio, the sim model turns all white, with no skin texture at all. The recolor of the clothing turns out perfect, but the texture of the model disappears when I put the item on the model. Even when I download my package in the sims 4 the character model is all white, even the hair is stark white, but when I remove the custom clothing piece the character texture comes back.
For the record, I am using Gimp for now until I save up for Photoshop. In Gimp, when it comes to custom packages, when exporting you get a drop down menu for a DDS format, to manually select your compression, and for gimp, you are suppose to use BC3 / DXT5 for Sims content, which I did use and no matter what work around I try, I still get the above problem, with whatever piece of clothing I decide to recolor. I am using the latest Sims 4 Studio, Sims 4 game, and Gimp.

Did you change anything in the Warehouse Tab of S4S? I recently had this problem and managed to fix it by changing the RLES Specular or the Bump Map to a blank file. ( I'm not sure which one as I changed both at the same time )

If you're seeing white in the sim body it might be because you didn't make that area transparent. This can be done with the alpha channel (if you use DDS format) or just deleting the background and exporting as .png. Nothing else than your recolor must be shown as visible, otherwise it will conflic with other parts of the CAS. This is because the EA uv map for the CAS items is a single composition image. HERE is the template for it. As Studio is able to import .png files you don't need to bother with DDS plugins and compression settings... it can be more easily done this way if you're having trouble with it.

Working on it, still no luck. You mention saved as a png? I did try that and Gimp tells me you can't export unless the file compression is set to BC3 / DXT5. Gimp just does not let you use a png export. The only time you have this option to compress your file as a BC3 / DXT5 is when your image is exported as a DDS. The option never shows if the file is saved as a PNG. Will work on it some more.

Png should have some options by default, you're good keeping them that way.

SOLVED: Thanks to the common sense of other simmers that helped me point out the obvious causes of this problem (Sometimes in life we need people to help point out the obvious causes). This is what I needed. My problem was a combination of a couple of minor issues. 1) Gimp defaulted to importing/exporting DDS files, with a DDS plugin installed. To custom color in Gimp there are a few saves you need to do to get the proper package for Sims 4 Studio, within these save processes Gimp jumped back and fourth to PNG, and DDS formats for some reason. a)simple solution was to manually pick what files you want as a DDS or a PNG compression. As mentioned PNG worked to bypass the default DDS selection. 2) When using multiple Transparent Background Layers to build on, and flatten the image to prepare it to save as one image, that consisted of several layers, all the Transparent Backgrounds that you built on combined together and created a non-transparent background of the finish product, which was overlooked (Hensed the fully "White Texture" on sim model, and not the clothing piece.) a)Simple work-around was to MERGE each Layer below the next, and not Flatten all the Layers into one. Even when flattening all PNG layers, the finished piece was visible and the sim model was still all white, even though you where working on ALL transparent backgrounds in the first place. So again, much thanks to those that posted. It's fixed! Now I can get back to my labor of love projects.
