Hi! I've encountered a problem with a dress I've frankenmeshed where the sims' hands clip through the dress when they sit down. The girl on the left is wearing the original dress I cloned. I've re-transferred and checked the weights & fixed and checked the cuts, but that didn't help the problem. In troubleshooting, I did find that this also happens when just exporting and then re-importing a mesh into S4S. Again, the girl on the left is wearing the original without any re-importing of the mesh. (It still feels like a human error to me though, which is why I made a thread here.) Can anyone explain to me what's causing this? I'd really appreciate it! c:

hi! Welcome to the forum! It's not exactly a human error, it will depend on the object you choose to clone and use as a base for your item. It's called "slot ray intersection" if i remember correctly.. and it's some little triangles inside the mesh that you cannot see but control where the hands should rest. Anyhow, i can suggest you trying the s4s fix and see if this solves the issue. And this is the explanation of the tool fix: "There are new additions to Studio’s automated mesh fixes including fix slot rays which repairs garments that have Sim arms clipping into them".

Thank you for replying! I had no clue S4S had a tool for that. OTL I tried the fix but it didn't solve the problem, and now my sim can't put her arms down. (I tried it on the other dress I was using to test, just to make sure I wasn't messing it up somehow, but still no dice.)

oh oh! then I'm not sure how you can fix it, I don't remember the rays getting bugged upon export.. maybe it's a bug? maybe someone else knows more about it and can help you out better.

Try deleting all the weights completely and find a dress that looks similar and transfer the weights from it, might work.

Thanks for the advice, MisterS! I deleted all the weights and then transferred weights from the next most similar ea dress (figured I wouldn't use the one I cloned since I'd tried transferred weights from that already) and the hands are still clipping ... and part of the dress now too. xD Though I did notice that some other cc dresses I have do this as well so maybe I just need to let it go?

I know this is a 2 year old post, but I'm having the exact same issue as @peterssparker with child hands clipping skirts. I also get the issue when exporting and re-importing the exact same mesh.

Maybe you can try the exact same suggestions then such as the last one from Mister S which is pretty much the only one that could work here. If it doesn't work then there will be no easy fix as It probably has to do with slots and this is very advanced stuff.

I was able to solve my issue on one of my dresses. I believe it was a UV_1 issue, although I'm not 100% sure what I did other than fiddling with vertices and making sure the ones near the knees were in the correct spots.
