I'm making a new mesh and I would love to close (Extrude region) the hole on the bottom part, but it has ruffles and I can't precisely select the edges. Is there a way to select only edges and I'm just missing it or do you have any advice?
Don't mind my unfinished texture

hi! Can you share the .blend file? You can send it via private if you're not comfortable. I see the edges too think in my opinion, so i would like to see it on my own to suggest the best way to select it. If you want to close it so it matches EA's aesthetics then there's no need to have a visible mesh on the inside, that only adds unnecessary geometry.

i would suggest two things.. but i'm still not sure of either of them, taking into consideration how the clothing will look in game and react to movement. But, you can try both and see which one you prefer more. First, you have to set the start clip to 0.001 as shown here so you can select things properly when zoomed in and have " limit selection" disabled. Remember to save as a new version so you keep back-up of the original. Use your mouse and camera to go inside of the model and delete the interior of the dress. To delete each chunk, press L while hovering the back and the front part of the inside of the dress. My first suggestion is to leave the interior of the ruffles. and extrude from where the seam of the ruffles start as opposed to the bottom of the dress. You'll see this wide border, select it with L (both front and back) and press H to hide it in the mean time. Hold ALT and right click on the top edge that is now visible. SHIFT+alt+click on the remaining part to select both. Press 1 to change to front view, and you'll see that some other vertices got selected too. Press B to square select and while holding shift, swipe from top left to bottom right so that the vertices you don't want to be selected get un-selected. You'll have the border selected ready to extrude or create a face. once you're finished, press ALT+H to make the hidden part show up again. This applies if you want to do the bottom part only. Let me know if you don't understand any particular step. There's not really a tutorial about it, it's just knowing the program and trying to understand what's easier depending on each mesh.
