Hi! I'm new to the forums, but have been a creator for a while (small scale stuff). I usually stuck to recolors / skins and things like that but wanted to take a stab at creating meshes. I seem to be having an issue with the weight transfers (I think). I have scrubbed through the following tutorials multiple times and I can't figure out what the issue is: sims4studio.com/thread/81/weight-transfer-blendersims4studio.com/thread/7044/finish-marvelous-designer-clothing-tutorialBelow is what I'm seeing in game: I checked the weights in weight paint mode several times and they look ok, so I'm not really sure what's going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated on this. Below is the package and blender files: Package File: drive.google.com/open?id=0B_2Pf4bomoD2R3FobDZIQ1hiNjg Blender File: drive.google.com/open?id=0B_2Pf4bomoD2aUZaWHdXREgyYUE Thank you again!

hi! The problem is that you're using 2.78 to do the weight transfer. Please re-check the weight transfer tutorial linked on your post as it was updated to fix the issue you're experiencing.

Thank you so much inabadromance for the quick reply
I thought I had made the change specified for 2.78 / 2.80 ie. setting Source Layers = By Name and Destination Layers = All layers
Is that what you're referring to?
I'll try again and perhaps also download Blender 2.7 and try the original as well.

no, you're missing the "clean" step, after #5

Oooh! Thank you so much! I'm going to try that as soon as I get back to the file. I think I forgot to select all the vertices before hitting clean. I may have directly clicked clean.

Hi! So I tried cleaning to make sure I was doing everything 100% as stated in the instructions. However nothing seems to works: 1) I made sure to have all the vertices selected and hit clean, but it still looks like the image in my first post 2) I tried to open the file in Blender 2.70 and do weight transfer there but that looks even more wonky: Can anyone please suggest anything else I can try?

I think it is about cut number issue. Did your original mesh (clothing mesh that you use as template from sims4studio) has more than 1 mesh group (i.e. sims4_studio_mesh_xxx).

Thank you monkeysimmy. Yes, it had 3. But what I exported also had three groups and I made sure the GEOM numbers matched the originals

When you re did the weight transfer on 2.72, did you delete the bones you had prior to that? There should be no bones when you start following the tutorial.
If you want, please share the updated .blend file.

Fair point, thank you. I did not do that. I redid the mesh by starting off with a Sims 4 Studio mesh that only had one mesh group -> deleting the bones before transferring anything I was able to make it work: The only issue is that I want to make the skirt semi-transparent, which, from my understanding means I need at least two mesh groups (in order to assign different shaders to each in Sims 4 Studio). When I tried to start with a mesh that had three groups I get the following wonky-ness. Here is the .blend file: Blend File

I played around with it some more and the best I'm getting is this (transparent skirt and less wonki-ness): Package fileBlender fileAny help would be most greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for all the help already.

Thank you so much for all the help already. Nic Nice job on fixing it! The issue is still the weights. Some vertices still don't have the correct weights assigned. This can be a pain in the @$$, but you need to paint over the weights on the skirt again to make sure it's correct (and it may take a lot of tries before you get all the pesky little vertices).

Try going into weight mode, and clicking the limit total button. What mesh are you using as a base for the transfer?

Thank you inabadromance - I tried the "Limit Total" - didn't really solve the problem. I went back to the version that worked with one group (the blender file) and tried to split that mesh into three groups using a different starting mesh. It seems like split the mesh into 3 groups causes the issue: The base mesh I'm using for the transfer is actually a cc mesh that has a transparent skirt (so you have weights for the legs underneath as well).

If the original mesh has one group, then importing something with more groups will cause issues. So you shouldn't do that and only mold the mesh accordingly so it matches.
Also, i don't recommend using a cc as a base for weight, use an EA mesh instead. Also, you don't have to apply weights and uv_1 to the legs, since those already have everything set up. Only apply it to your custom mesh and then append the legs afterwards.
