Some of you may have noticed that the EA official forums were down for a couple of days recently. The reason, apparently, was so that they could condense all the sections for Sims games for PC/Mac into one section and open a new, separate section for an FTP Sims game that plays in real time. I really hope that relegating all PC games to a shared section balanced only by a section for a phone app isn't a signal about where EA is taking the Sims franchise.

Didn't they have already made a sims game for facebook once? Or it was maybe another company and they took it down? Not sure.
Considering EA is the publisher this is unfortunately not surprising as they are more interested in making money than anything else. They have a couple of games making tons of money based on big franchises such as the star wars galaxy of heroes mobile game. It is only a matter of time before they transform all their franchises in poo mobile games. The question is more: Will this impact the quality of service for the normal PC/Console games? I don't think they realise how much modding and S4S saved the sims 4 from a complete disaster. So many players would not play the game without all the CC. I would not.
I also find it so hypocritical because when everybody complained about the sims 4 (at release) they claimed there will not be a sims 5 anyway (probably to force the hand on people so they buy the game). And now they just try to make money on a mobile version, that is certain to include tons of Micro transactions. erk. I hate publishers, they ruin everything.

Whats worrying is if they focus more on adding to the mobile app micro transactions rather than the main game :( .

Your concern about the direction in where EA is taking this franchise isn't the only one, orangemittens. Many players on the official forum have voiced this very thought. I for one would prefer if they spent more time fixing the game they are already working on and continue to make another iteration. They already have a mobile game that appears to be doing quite well, Freeplay, and they have expanded on that one greatly and continue to add content either through community challenges and other challenges they offer. I have it but haven't played it for ages. I thought I had read somewhere that they actually pulled some of the dev's from the PC game to work on this mobile game and hired new people to fill in those empty dev seats. I could be wrong on that but if they have, I don't see anything good coming from that kind of move. I don't not like the new layout. I spend more time clicking that I do actually reading any posts. ;-| Zelrish, yes they did have a facebook one called Sims Social, I think that's what it was called but I don't know why they took it down. Probably because no one was playing it.

There production so far is already so bare bones. I was just looking at some TS3 conversions from Cepzid and it made me regret how EA slipped back to making mostly skin tight meshes for Sims 4. Just another thing that is so slipshod...It's hard to think of it getting worse.

This Sims Mobile app thingy seems like a sims-skin for another online cash cow that will be used to milk children for their parents credit card money.
