No matter how many times I do data transfer, my uv_1 doesn't look like it should (I'm following Elia's UV_1 tutorial ) And this is what mine looks like: imgur.com/a/vFDhb or this after I join my nude top and my mesh: imgur.com/a/aTVn2I am using blender 2.78c. I don't know what to do, I'm feeling hopeless. If someone could help me or direct me towards a proper tutorial, that would be so helpful. Thank you. Here's my blend. www.simfileshare.net/download/239351/

UV_0 and UV_1 are different, the mesh isn't on either map. Delete uv_1, fit your mesh on the uv_0 and things should look better. I don't make clothes but I know uvs, and the mesh should be on the grid. try turning off your 'keep uv and edit mode mesh selection in sync', it may help you move things around Very pretty top by the way.

I managed to get a decent looking uv_1 for your top using Elia's tutorial and a nude top as the reference mesh. Could there be a step you're skipping in the process? Also, does anyone know if the specific blender version could be causing this issue? (I used 2.78a not c.)

@ppeterssparker I am not sure. Could you walk me through what you did? Or point me to where you learned the entire process? I am following a tutorial on youtube and I'm not sure if she is doing it correctly.

I fiddled around with your .blend some more to see if I could replicate the problem you're running into, and I did (I think). This might be a silly question, but when doing the transfer are you clicking the "UVs" button here? That's the only thing I've found so far that causes the transfer to not work.

@peterssparker I can't remember if I've been pressing that UV button or not but I gave it a try and it seems to have worked. Does this look like a correct uv_1? imgur.com/UPUIthZ

Weight transfer and UV_1 data transfer should be only applied to the clothing. Not body parts. The transfers are not as precises as the one EA creates so it's best to have the original configurations. You can select your mesh and press p (click selection) to separate into another group and do the transfer. To join, select each group from the list, move your mouse to hover the mesh and press ctrl+j. For smooth transfer, please read this guide by slyd.
