I'm trying to use the S4S 4x4 rug mesh, but the texture isn't behaving in the same way as other game rugs I've recently retextured.
I'm creating a set of different shaped rugs using the texture from City Living's Comfortably Plush rug, which uses transparency around the edges to simulate tufts and unevenness. I've so far retextured the runner that came with Fitness, and the On The Spot round rug from the base game, and transparency worked as expected (transparent areas of the texture were invisible on the model/in-game). But as I'm starting work on the 4x4 texture, any area I erase shows up either as white or black in the S4S preview, like transparency in the texture is being translated into opacity somewhere in the mix.
There's probably a really easy solution to this and I'm just not au fait with the workings of meshes and textures to understand what. Hoping someone can help.

Do you know what, I'm stupid for not just using a circular rug mesh and squaring the circle instead (since they are actually square meshes to begin with). Might as well go with what I know already works. Still, I'd be interested to know why the above was happening anyway, since new knowledge is always appreciated for future use

hi! I'm not sure what rug specifically you're talking about.. the recolorable from s4s? or one from the game? can you tell me the name of it? Probably not all rugs are alpha enabled, have you tried using this cheat? open your package in Studio and click the Ctrl, Shift, and c keys on your computer keyboard to bring up the cheat menu. Type in the word "alphalpha" (without the quotation marks). That should apply alpha to your item. It seems whatever item you cloned did not have alpha enabled, and that's what is causing the transparency problem.

There was a blank rug mesh that came with S4S at some point - it shows up to clone when I look at rugs anyway, not sure if it's still included or if I put it in my mods folder some time ago from an older version. I didn't know about that cheat, thank you. I've used a different base game mesh for it now as per my second post, but I'll keep that in mind for the future, thanks

The S4S rug is still in there, and I cannot remember if we put one in there that has alpha or not. We may not have because that would make the file bigger, and Studio was a pretty big file on its own at that time. Studio slimmed down quite a bit with the introduction of the Harmony series, so we could always add a pre-mapped rug with alpha to the Studio Recolorables feature.

Do the dance floors have alpha, because I'm trying to build a mesh out of the Movin' and Groovin' Dance Floor - Petite, and I keep having this weird transparency issue... It kinda does...
