That makes sense, ok.
I just redid all the steps in 2.78 just in case I missed something the first time, and all seemed to be going well (the shirt had the weight gradient on it this time) until I loaded it into the game and...it makes the sim disappear. I guess my optimism was false on that try. I'll just have to figure out how to get 2.70 to open. Thanks for your help!

Got it, ok. I've gotten 2.78 to work just fine for the other steps, but I haven't been able to successfully do the weight transfer with it.

Oh I see. I'm with you now. I have no idea why blender crashes either; it's something I'll probably have to take up with the developers. But the weight transfer step should work in any version of blender? Maybe I've been missing something in the tutorials...

How does it help to have it as a zip? Am I still unzipping it/opening the program or does 2.77 somehow know how to reference the zipped version?

So, I've been having a lot of trouble getting the weight transfer to work between an EA mesh and one that I made from scratch. I've tried using various versions of blender (2.78, 2.75, 2.71...) to no avail. I know that tutorials recommend using 2.70 for certain steps but for some reason my laptop refuses to open it (it "quits unexpectedly" as soon as I try to open it). On a different thread someone suggested having 2.78 installed and just having 2.70 in zip, but I don't understand how that works? I believe I was able to get the uv_1 map to work right using 2.75 (although the default body texture isn't showing up on the shirt...maybe I didn't do that right either?), but I'm stuck now on the weight transfer part like in brujah's tutorial. What am I missing? Is version 2.70 absolutely essential for this process to work? I'm using mac os x sierra. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So I'm hoping to be able to make custom poses, but my mac is refusing to open blender 2.70. I've been able to download it and have s4s recognize that it's installed and export the pose, but blender crashes as soon as I try to open it. I've tried getting later versions of blender (including 2.79, 2.78, 2.76, 2.71...) and they all open but the .blend file that s4s exported doesn't show anything when I try to open it in the later versions. Any ideas why 2.70 might be crashing? Is 2.70 the only version that will show the .blend files? I have mac osx sierra 10.12.6.
