Hate to say it, but a visual search, and hovering over non-displayed items, is the only way I know of to find the food items you are looking for in game. Chocolate cake is foodPlateEatMultiGENCakeWhite 0x219C. Chocolate,strawberry etc. are just textures of the white cake.

My guess would be an error in step 7 "Painting Style". Either in the style xml or in the reference in the recipe for the painting.
