Asking for a friend. No, really, this is for freeasabird. So, she's got a lamp that won't display vertex paint. It's a Sims 2 conversion, I think, and most of the mesh is meant to be transparent glass so most of the mesh has been assigned PhongAlpha shading. PhongAlpha, unfortunately, won't work with vertex paint. As you can see in the screenshots, there is a light source but it just sort hangs out around the lamp while the lamp itself, remains dark. The part of the mesh that appears bright has been assigned the Phong shader and has been vertex painted. I was poking around in the materials in the Warehouse section of S4S and noticed "UseVertSelfIllumination" and wondered what that is/does? Does anyone know? The other question is, does anyone know of a shader that will accept vertex paint and that will also allow for transparency? I could test each shader but there are an awful lot of them.
