Hey guys, i'm wanting to dive into converting items from MMD however, the part that REALLY gets me is the initial conversion where you need a LOD.. That part I get confused about.
I have Milkshape but I haven't found a tutorial that helps? Most of the time whatever I try doesn't "stick" and ends up not working.
So yeah, as long as It has an LOD I can work with it, but that's the part i'm stuck on, so if you know a good indepth tutorial, please help me out!

A software for creating (dancing) animation. There are a lot of other items made for it in the anime style

MikuMikuDance? I'm wondering why Milkshape would need to be involved. Milkshape is so aggravating to work with.

Milkshape used to be the go-to free software for making cc for games before blender, so a lot of games and similar things that came out before ~ 2014 or so have tools and tutorials for milkshape, not blender. blender was not good initially (neither was milkshape but it was more simple I suppose)

I (very briefly) looked at a couple of tutorials and it said something about exporting the model from MMD as an OBJ file. If that's the case, Milkshape can be avoided altogether. A lot of the tutorials mention something about preserving bones when exporting which would not be necessary as you'd need to transfer the weights from an EA item, anyway (assuming the item needs weights. I don't anything about using MMD models). So, magicalgirlsimmer if you're reading this, all you need is a mesh and the diffuse textures and possibly, maybe, the bump and specular. You can make your own specular map and bump map if you need to. And you can bake a new diffuse if you have to fiddle with the UV layout. I found this video which talks about how to import a PMX file. Apparently, you need a Blender addon.
