I've searched for answers but can't find this problem anywhere. As soon as I can see the thumbnail (which is blank) in game, my game crashes. I've tried fixing the weights, I wondered if I'd done them wrong, I've tried redoing the uv_1, tried leaving the maps default and such, all to no avail.

Hey! You have some weird named weights and this cause your game to crash. Same problem as yours were here and here with solutions what to do to repair Just delete all weights and retransfer them from reference dress, then create new package, import your mesh and test in game Also your dress should be vertex paint using 00FF00 and only bottom part from middle of pelvis bone with 3FFF00. Do not transfer weights / uv / vertex to body parts, always do what needed only with your dress and then join with body. You have some visible holes in your mesh between dress and body parts too

I followed those suggestions. What weights are weird named?

For example "__R_ThighFrontTarget_slot" or "b__L_Prop__", there should not be anything like that. I see you have all range of weights, wrong ones, proper ones and also face ones. Just delete them all, import reference dress and transfer weights from it. Make sure you deleted all weights on your mesh so wieghts window is empty. Before you do this, export EA dress and take a look at weights to make sure how proper ones looks like

You should restart the package before re-importing the blend. All those bones were already introduced to the package and are corrupting it. Also, the maps are of the wrong sizes. Diffuse and shadow: 1024x2048 Specular: 512x1024 To make them hq compatible, double all these numbers. In your case, shadow is smaller and specular is bigger
Unrelated to the issue, but the specular and normal arent made right. Export the maxis maps to see what i mean

Okay I identified my issue and I'm putting it here for anyone searching in the future: I had used the S4S rig's "top" to add a body into my dress and I shouldn't have done that it seems 😂
Thanks for the help, Dissia.

Using body parts under the rig is okay and would not cause problems (unless you join them in the wrong order and your garment will end up being parented to the rig, but that manifests itself in a different way). The body parts under the rig are not affected by all bones of the rig, they are just parented to it. What you may have accidentally done was transfer weights from the rig itself instead of a mesh. Only the rig would have all those slot bones

Only the rig would have all those slot bones I didn't. I was very careful with what I was transferring. This only happened when I joined the torso mesh from the rig with the dress I made 🤷♂️

I usually avoid joining body parts from rig, prefer exporting nude top or lace bra mesh from s4s and import them to blend, delete what needed, remove doubles and join at the end with my mesh This way I won't accidentaly join my mesh to rigs, just prefer to not touch them in this case :D
