Maybe I wasn't clear or maybe no one is on these forums anymore?
How many recolors are you allowed to shove into one package?
I am recoloring a painting and leaving three different frames, black, white, and brown, for each recolor. Each picture unique but they have black, brown, and white frame option. So I making all these swatches in S4S and idk how far I can push this? Should I do like 20 and then move to a new package or can I stick 5000 recolors the sky is the limit? In this one package?
See what I mean?

Hi. I dont know if there are any limits, but this is objectively not a good idea. If you plan on sharing it with others, no one will download an item with hundreds, much less thousands, of recolors. It is inconvenient to use and its size will put a strain on the game engine. A more practical solution would be to make two items: frames with their own colors and paintings with their own.

I know you can get at least 80 swatches in one package and it's not unmanageable as long as you make the swatches distinct. But I do agree that there is a practical limit (maybe 80, probably less), because at some point it becomes difficult to see all the swatches at once in game.

Wow, 80! My friend guessed 20 said it gets glitchy if she goes over 20. Asked her after asking here.
Thx guys all this imput is fantastic!
Here's the balancing dilemma - one package many swatches or many packages only 20 swatches. I'm thinking finding items in game is bigger pain than finding swatches once the item's located.
Recolors of one VivaMore energizing +10 painting. Alternatively, if there is a way in S4S to give +10 to any/all painting or decor object? So all my recolors will be of +10 energy stuff and then I go insane with over 100 recolors of that one object so I'll always have a plus 10 I can hang wont look same-o same-o.
I don't want mods hate the constant worry they will malfunction. But I hate that most stuff in sims is only +1 room energy. The rich man gets more from his decor thing going (realistically people who learn to appreciate what they have get the plus 10 not rich people who can never have enough endlessly trying to fill their empty souls).

It depends on the item. If it's 30 swatches of the same bed, just different colors, it makes sense to have them all in one package. I have separated recolors into multiple packages before and where it's just a matter of different colors of the same thing, it's actually harder to find, as I have to click on two different items and look for the right swatch. It's different if there's a reason to separate them, such as if one package is solid colors and the other has patterns. Paintings of the same price end up together, so they're generally not too hard to find if you keep that consistent. It's probably easier to have separate packages for each image, each with however many frame recolors you intend to make. Then if you're scrolling through your decorations you won't forget you have extra swatches hiding somewhere or have to go through a ton of different swatches to find the right image. There's also the option of making all the items have a creator tag, such as putting [jemcrystal] in the name of the object so that you can text search for all of your creations. I believe you can adjust the effects given off by a deco object by modifying its tuning; this tutorial should help: sims4studio.com/thread/391/change-comfort-scores-tuning-catalog. You can swap the tuning of whatever painting you want to clone with the one that has the environment score you want. Good luck!
