Oh, I hadn't seen, you had posted this. I am glad you are getting on with the custom events and a baby shower is a nice normal addition to the existing range of events. Though new babies in my game will have to wait until the longer pregancy mod starts working properly again - aging turned off and three day pregnancies don't go well together. (Neither does the utter lack of toddlers, but oh well ... ) Thank you, Anska! The party will be there waiting for your when your babies are ready to be born, hehe.

Thanks Anska Yeah, I was mulling around with trying to create my own venue, but that would be so much more work and probably not necessary. At least this way, people can easily build their own generic lots and use them for a prom venue Yes, I looked into that briefly, when I entertained the idea of creating a graveyard venue - and probably just as quickly discarded the idea again. On the other hand, if you can get the bit about the system-spawned party guests, which you wrote about above, to work, it would basically do the same thing and be much more flexible to boot. I mean, if you have to create a special type of venue for every type of custom event, it would very quickly clutter the map. Whereas if you can create the illusion of a new venue-type by making a certain type of sim spawn on the otherwise spawn-free generic lot through an event, you can use the generic lot for multiple purposes. That would actually solve so many venue-related issues in one stride ... Yes, exactly...I feel like that's the key to so much. I just don't really understand how it works yet, and can't quite find an example that I could borrow for my own mod. I love the idea for your graveyard venue, btw. I want to create a Funeral event soon, too

I wish I could help, but I haven't done any custom icons for interaction queues...I looked at the file, but as I haven't done it, I'm not sure where to start :( Now, if you want some help changing icons on traits, buffs, parties, etc...I can definitely help you there Good luck, I'm sure Phyre will know (and thank you for tagging me anyway, anska...delighted to be considered as someone with expertise, hahaha <3)

I think that's a very clever work-around ... and finally gives the generic lots a real purpose other than a lack of building-guidlines. Thanks Anska Yeah, I was mulling around with trying to create my own venue, but that would be so much more work and probably not necessary. At least this way, people can easily build their own generic lots and use them for a prom venue

Update: decided to work around it by enabling my party to be thrown at Generic lots. Since NPCs don't spawn there anyway, it worked perfectly I won't delete this though, in case anyone does figure out the answer to my initial question!

Haha no offense meant there esmeralda , I meant you don't really see anyone EXCLUSIVELY posting stuff on MTS anymore And yup...thought I'd give them one last try since, theoretically, the users there should have a lot of experience with what I'm asking. I'm sure I'll never get a reply... (rofl) Unless you know the answer? 😁

Remember in TS3 when we could have the option to make a party private, so that other Sims won't show up on the lot? I'm trying to create another new party type and don't really want NPCs spawning on the lot in addition to those who were hired for the event, and those who were invited to the party. Specifically, I'm creating Prom as a custom event for teens only. I have made it so only teens can throw the party and only teens can come to the party, however, I find a bit jarring when they show up to the venue and there's random adults there, too.
I've looked in many of the .xml files trying to figure out what I should add or change. I found this when looking at the tdesc for the Situation Job files:
"<TunableTuple name="sim_auto_invite" class="TunableInterval" display="Sim Auto Invite" filter="0" group="General" description="On situation start it will select a random number of sims in this interval. It will automatically add npcs to the situation so that it has at least that many sims in this job including those the player invites/hires. If the player invites/hires more than the auto invite number, no npcs will be automatically added. Auto invite sims are considered to be invited, so they will be& spawned for invite only situations too. For player initiated situations you probably want to set this 0. It is really meant for commercial venues. You can use Churn tuning on this job if you want the number of sims to vary over time. Churn tuning will override this one. For example, an ambient bar situation would have a high auto invite number for the customer job because we want many sims in the bar but the player doesn't invite or hire anybody for an ambient situation. A date would have 0 for this for all jobs because the situation would never spawn anybody to fill jobs, the player would have to invite them all.">"
I've tried adding in this option to my "party guest" job and then changing the numbers, but nothing seems to change. I'm probably going about it completely wrong. The only thing I can think of is modifying the venues themselves, but that would override EVERYTHING, not just for when I'm throwing this particular party.
Any ideas? Can it be done? If not, is there a work around?

I downloaded the files, thank you so much necrodog!!! Every time I was trying to do it, I'd get an error message from S4S. I don't know why, but whatever, it works now <3 Thank you so much, I can get going on my mod now :D

Hi brittpinkiesims and simshout, you can edit the String Tables (STBLs is short for string tables) in the Warehouse. We can?! Maybe I'm being dense, but I can't figure out how. If I clink on the STBL file, and go to the "Text" tab, I'm not able to edit it.OMG, I just figured it out...you have to click on Edit Items, under the Entries section! Holy poo! I had no idea, now I can do everything in S4S, hehe :D :D

Thanks for all the comments and feedback everyone! I've been reading what you all had to say, and definitely think I'll just stick to my own Tumblr/website, and posting here. As I said in my original comment, I never was planning to put any of my recolors or conversions on MTS, I was curious about whether or not my game play mods (Harry Potter traits and buffs, custom events, etc.) would be better suited there, as it seems to be more an archive for game mods (not recolors/objects...I feel like MTS hasn't had anything good as far as objects go in a long time. Plasticbox is/was the only real creator of new meshes there for TS4 and she is on hiatus, so...). I know when I think of actual game play modifications, I think of Mod The Sims first, as it's always been the place where you could find custom careers, or tuning mods, or whatever. I know lots of Simmers are probably the same. So I wasn't sure if people would have an easier time finding my game play mods on MTS, or if I should just post them with the rest of my things (which do get posted on the main TS4 blogs, and archived on Lana's site...that's not the issue here ). Anyway, I think OM's point is a really good one: So maybe MTS was known in the past for being the best place to find game play mods, but maybe people will start coming here for them. Or looking on Tumblr, or wherever they're hosted. I don't know. At any rate, regardless of how it works out, I'd rather not post at MTS given a lot of the feedback I've had from you all, and the general misgivings I had about it in the first place. On another note, I will say that I've gone to their forum a few times and had bad experiences; either no one answers your questions at all, or when they do, the moderators have been pretty rude and unhelpful, just saying, "Read the Sims 4 custom content manual." Which is like reading a bunch of gibberish if you're a beginner. I went there initially because I needed help with a script mod, and thought because there are so many people there who do it, someone would help me. I was wrong, haha. I have to say everyone here is 1000% more helpful and we have people that are knowledgeable on all aspects of creation here, so there's no need to even go to the MTS forum at any point either, now.

Hey everyone! I've created a custom event type: Baby Shower! I thought I'd share it here, in case anyone was interested I made the entire mod from scratch with S4S, except the strings file (which I needed S4PE for). So thankful that we're able to edit the SimData files with S4S now. The mod is base game compatible, and will allow your pregnant Sims to throw a Baby Shower event/party The Baby Shower event has custom goals/tasks to complete, comes with custom buff/moodlets for completing the party, and has rewards (base game objects) for bronze, silver, and gold parties. I also have a set of deco baby shower objects which you can use to decorate your baby shower with You can download the Baby Shower mod here, and the CC set here. I hope you guys enjoy it and let me know if you like the mod! I'm planning on making another custom party/event type next, which will be a Prom event for teens :D (For anyone who's curious about making a custom event, I'll say this first: creating a custom event type really isn't too hard! If I can figure it out, anyone can, haha. It is tedious, though, as there were probably anywhere from 30-40 .xml files that I had to write and edit, and if you mess up the tiniest thing, the whole mod can be ruined (this happened at least 10 times to me, probably more, lol). Because the amount of editing and stuff you have to do, I can't really see myself writing out a full tutorial anytime soon, but maybe I will in the future. Basically, custom events can be done fairly easily, but you have to know how to edit .xml files, have a good understanding of the way the tuning works for TS4, and have a WHOLE lot of patience, haha <3)

Hey necrodog, I thought I'd ask you this here...I'm trying to create a custom cake and I'm running into issues cloning it, maybe because the cakes are in the debug menu, I don't know. But how do I clone it to start off with?
