Just wanted to add my thanks! I had this issue too and this fix worked like a charm.

nanabelxd -- Once you load the hair package into S4S, you should arrive at a screen as shown in the attached image. You should be able to select either the Normal or Specular maps from the list provided by S4S (Circled in red in the attached image.) One thing to note: If you are dealing specifically with the issue described in my post, fixing hair that was broken by the changes in the Cats & Dogs patch, there is now a batch fix in S4S that could save you a lot of time. You can find that from the main screen of S4S in the menus: Content Management > Batch fixes > CAS > Fix Cats & Dogs Patch Glass Hair. Hope this helps.

I've got good news guys! I've found a way to fix the hairstyles that are appearing darker after the Pets patch (at least it has worked on all my hairstyles that had this issue). There were to kind of problems:
- Most of the hairstyles that had this problem didn't have specular and normal map. In this case adding a plain white specular and a plain grey normal has fixed them. This was the case with some of Newsea, Aveira and other creators.
- There were 2 hairstyles by Butterflysims that came with specular and normal but still had the issue. What I've done in this case is making the specular and normal blank and saving the packcage, then I've gone into the game (I'm not sure if this step is necessary), closed it and then added a new specular and normal.
I hope this helps! Ooh! I will have to try this!! I'll let you know how it goes, because I have a lot of hairs that broke like this!! This sounds really hopeful -- I too will give it a try and see what results I get. I've got a lot of alpha hair CC, and about half of it seems to be affected. Thanks for the tip -- here's hoping! Edit:Great news -- thank you very much Kaizoku-Gal -- your fix seems to have done the trick! :-) Actually, as far as I can tell, the Normal Map is the core issue. So far, I have just fixed the Normals and not even done a thing with the Speculars, and it seems to restore the hair to the proper look and color. The hairs that I have seen which have this issue have no Normal Map (at least technically). It seems that there are a lot of hair packages out there which have a DST Normal Map file in the package, but it simply isn't 'hooked up.' The Group/Instance/Type info is not entered in the CAS Part data. So that DST file is never being referenced. Others have no Normal Map of any sort -- the end result in-game is the same. (I'm thinking perhaps there was a creator tool at some point which 'forgot' to hook these up -- either that or a number of creators were all following the same flawed work flow.) The 'Use Blank' option of S4S doesn't help in this regard. It seems the game now needs a mid-grey Normal Map to render hairs as we're used to. Adding in a RGB 128-128-128 map with 50% transparency seems to work nicely. (Arrived at that due to Kaizoku Gal's post and by examining the DST files in working hair packages.) I'm kind of hoping that this can be confirmed and perhaps it could form the basis for a batch fix. Adding Normals by hand is do-able, but that's a lot of files to fix, for some of us.

I've also encountered the problem (since the Cats & Dogs patch) with some CC hair showing up darker in-game than it should. One thing to note: When I view those hairs via the "My CC" option of S4S, they appear properly. But in-game, in either CAS or Live mode, they're noticeably darker than they should be. In case it helps to have a couple more for comparison, here are two I use that are having this problem: Hereand HereThanks for your time and all you do to keep S4S and our games working!

Thanks OM! I just deleted my earlier post actually, as I found a solution. (I too was looking to separate a merged package, but I found I didn't actually need to.) What I was trying to do is recolor one item in a merged CC package. I found OrangeMittens' tutorial for recoloring CC packages and found that if I placed the CC package in the Documents/Sims4Studio/Mods folder and followed her directions, Studio would then let me select the package I wanted to edit from within the merged package. (Thanks again OM!) This may even work for deleting, in a roundabout way? Maybe if you followed those steps and used Studio to clone the object(s) from the packages you want to keep, you could then save those as new packages and then use those without having the other package you'd like to delete?

It was to be expected in this patch. The additional of toddlers brought changes in CAS, and changes in CAS means breakage of CAS-UI oriented mods. :-( (Vampires may do it again . . . we can hope not, but . . . there's a fair chance.)

I went looking for some cat accessories a little while ago myself, and found some ears for children here.

One of the things I found I really wanted when decorating was a 'mirrored' mirror to go with the 'Swish and Flick' mirror from the GTW expansion. I really like the look, but I also like some symmetry, and was hoping for a counterpart to put opposite the one we got. So now that I've figured out how to do it (with help from Eronoel and OrangeMittens -- thanks again!), I've mirrored the mirror. Here to complete the set is the 'Flick and Swish' (it's the one on the left, original is on the right): *** This requires the Get to Work expansion pack from EA/Maxis. ***

Hi ayradyss, if you cloned the item using Studio it will require GTW to function in the game and it's completely fine to share an item like that. I'm glad you got it working...it looks great Ah, great! It should be fine then. I'll upload it and hook it up in a bit. I used the 'Create 3D Mesh' option in Studio to clone it, then tweaked the mesh in Blender and put it all back together in Studio. I may have to make a custom catalog pic for it. I noticed that when using the default generated pic, it looks smaller than the EA/Maxis pic for the original mirror. Nah, it'll do as-is. Thanks again, everyone!

Thank you both so much, eronoel and orangemittens! That was what I needed. (Just knowing to switch from Object mode into Edit mode was part of my issue. I'm still learning my way around Blender. I did read some of the related tutorials, but I wasn't doing them actively, and I guess it didn't stick in my head. 3D mesh editing has always been a bit intimidating to me.) I did find one little issue, but now I knew enough to figure it out: I only needed to mirror two of the three groups, the mirror surface and frame. Mirroring the shadow plane was actually flipping it so it was on the front of the mirror facing the rear, so I just had to leave that one as it was and it all works! I'd originally wanted to use the mirrors when decorating my sauna, then was disappointed to find there was no mirrored version. Now the place looks like I'd envisioned it: Very happy to have this done and working! Thank you both again for your time and help. I'm wondering -- is this okay to upload here in my studio, or not, due to the fact that the mesh is part of the package, and it's a variant of an EA expansion-pack item. As long as it's alright, I'd be happy to share it, but I don't want to do anything against any rules/TOU/copyrights, etc.

So, I think I may be in over my head. Perhaps this was a bit too ambitious for an early project. What I'm trying to do, is to take the 'Swish and Flick' mirror, from the GTW expansion, and mirror it left-to-right. (If you see the thing, I expect you should understand -- I can add a pic here if needed.)
What I've done so far: I cloned the mirror, with meshes. Exported the meshes and textures. Loaded the meshes into Blender, where I used the Mirror function to mirror the mesh groups (surface, frame and shadow) on the X axis. This appeared to do what I desired in Blender. Saved that.
Now I'm kind of stuck as to what I need to do. It seems like I need to remap the textures, but I've little experience with that. I've learned (from trying it) that it definitely is not as simple as mirroring the texture images. I've been searching through some of the tutorials here. Looked at one about UV mapping objects, though I don't even see a 'Shading/UV' tab in Blender to access that sort of thing with the mirror mesh loaded. The reflective surface seems to also need reassignment, and I've no clue how that works.
If anyone can point me toward any appropriate tutorials, let me know what things I need to learn to proceed or guide me along a bit, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks much for your time!

Another item from the Life of the Party pack -- the sparkly party outfits. I really liked these, but tended to avoid them because they had a Playful emotion buff attached. So here they are in their new non-emotional versions. As with the sombreros, you'll find them as swatches in the regular catalog entry for the outfits. (Identical to the original swatches, but should have the CC marker on them.) I did not deactivate the "Allow for random" flag on these -- I haven't really seen these outfits running around in my game much, and they're not too outlandish, so I left it as EA/Maxis had set it. *** This requires the Life of the Party Digital Content pack from EA/Maxis. *** #LifeOfTheParty #NoEmotion #CAS #Outfit

One Drive seems to only be offering 5GB at this point in time, but that's still nothing to sneeze at. I just set it up here with only a little bout of quirkiness due to my use of the NoScript browser addon. (And it doesn't seem to be doing the short link thing anymore. Though perhaps that's a side-effect of NoScript? I don't know for sure.)
Thanks much for the tutorial OrangeMittens!

I'm not much of a creator yet -- mostly I use S4S to fix other CC and to tweak things more to my liking. A recent discussion in the official Sims forums lead me to see if I could remove the emotion buffs from some of the EA/Maxis clothing -- and it worked! So I thought I'd share them here for folks who'd like to have 'emotionally neutral' clothing. First up is the sombrero from the Life of the Party pack, as it was the focus of the aforementioned discussion thread. This version of the sombrero will not overwrite the originals -- it adds swatches the existing sombrero. (The wrenches will denote which ones are the CC ones -- I didn't do custom swatches as the look is exactly the same.) I did take the liberty to unset the 'Allow for random' flag so my version will not be added to any of your townies. *** This requires the Life of the Party Digital Content pack from EA/Maxis. *** #LifeOfTheParty #NoEmotion #CAS #Hat
