Hi kitkat, part of the error message is chopped off. Can you post the whole thing? If this is all you can see of it as it's being reported you can find the entire thing in your Documents/Sims 4 Studio/Logs folder. It will appear as a text document dated the day it occurred. If you open that text file you can copy paste it right onto the forum or, if you'd rather, you can send me the .txt. It would be very helpful as you are not the first person to report this but no one has yet posted the whole error that is occurring.

Thanks for letting me know.
From what I can tell, due to the large variety of thumbnail types EA has, Studio is having a tough time reading your thumbnail cache. This feature is a work in progress and it may be that we have to remove the part of it that automatically deletes the item's thumbnail form the cache in order for it to work properly for everyone. One way or the other the problem will be fixed in an upcoming version of Studio.
In the meantime you can try deleting your thumbnail cache manually and then try again. If you try this it would be helpful to know how that worked out.

Hi I'm having problems trying to see my custom color swatches in my game, or even my custom catalog thumbnail picture, plus now that I have the newest version of studio 4 it's a little bit hard for me to follow your instructions because my screens look nothing like the ones you show on here when using studio 4. Can you please help? Just tell me what you need me to show you. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Hi pinkstorm25, which part of which tutorial is giving you problems because the screens don't look similar enough to the illustrations? This illustrations from this tutorial are identical to Studio's current screen appearance. Which step or steps is/are the problem? If I have a better idea of where your questions are arising I can help

Hi and thank you for the response, perhaps I'm just getting confused because the examples used are for glasses and not hair which is what I do. Re-colors of hair. So I'll use pictures of what I have just don't know what I'm doing wrong that the swatches and catalog pictures are not showing up in game. Well at least my game. As you can see it seems like I have everything in place but the only thing that shows up are the colors for the swatches and not the custom swatches I have for each one. I've been trying to use the instructions for Merge Multiple Object Recolors Into 1 Catalog Entry with S4S for my custom swatches perhaps this is why I'm a little confused. Or maybe I'm just not good at finding the proper tutorial for me. Or if at all possible perhaps I can send my package via email to you and you can take a look at it for me? Then perhaps you'll have a better idea as to what's going on. I'm sorry if I'm not specific enough I'm trying hard to wrap my brain around the whole thing. I guess you can see I'm a real newbie for this stuff lol. Anyways thank you for the help.

pinkstorm25, if you're making a CAS recolor like hair you do not need to use the Merge Multiple Object Recolors Into 1 Catalog Entry with S4S tutorial. That tutorial should only be used for objects. For CAS items if you want multiple swatches all on the same catalog entry you use the Add Swatch button. From your picture it looks like you are trying to add a swatch to an existing hair mesh. That is easier to do than merging objects into a single catalog entry and I wrote a tutorial showing exactly how to do it using a hair.package as the example The tutorial for that is here: sims4studio.com/thread/386/add-swatch-existing-hair-beginners. I wrote that tutorial a little while ago so some of the buttons are not in the exact same place as they are now. All the buttons still have the same words on them though and it shouldn't be difficult to figure out. If you have problems with it let me know Once you have added all the swatches you want to add and you have imported all the new textures for your new swatches save the .package. Close Sims 4 Studio completely. Put the .package into the Sims 4 Mods folder and start your game. In CAS choose the hair you have added the swatch to so it is displayed on the Sim. Click through each of the swatches until you come to your swatches. Make sure to click each of your swatches so that you see your new swatch displayed on the model in the catalog thumbnail. If you do not actually view your swatch on the catalog thumbnail in the game then Studio cannot add it to your .package. Give all this a try and let me know if you run into any more problems

Hi thank you for directing me to that thread but everything in there I already know how to do. I appreciate you pointing me to it and this helps me more to pin point what I'm asking help for. I'm inserting two pictures to show you what I'm trying to put into game and the other is what it looks like in game. Again thank you so much for your help. Hi I just reread what you said "If you do not actually view your swatch on the catalog thumbnail in the game then Studio cannot add it to your .package. " So I guess I'll just have to find another way. But thank you so much for trying to help me.

Studio isn't going to be able to do anything an EA item doesn't do. EA hairs have one catalog thumbnail. No matter which color you select for any particular style the catalog thumbnail only shows the first color - black. Studio is going to make your item just like EA's. This means that only the first swatch will have a matching catalog thumbnail. All the others will have the same catalog thumbnail as the first...just like EA's.

I try but I have a little problem 4. - Close the game and reopen Studio. Ok - Open your .package using the Recent Projects list or the My Projects button. Either way will work. Ok - Export the thumbnail that Studio has generated and open it in your 2D editor. My catalog thumbnail is empty.

Did you look at each of your item's catalog thumbnails in the game? If you did and they are not showing up I will look at the .package if you post it.
