I see a few creators use adfly here. I notice a few file sharing sites have started to ban adfly users. I can't wait till all are banned because if you see the poo that people have to put up with trying to get through adfly's BS, the chances that anyone actually downloads your stuff is next to 0. With a blocker, you get nada and without a blocker you get reams of ads and pop up webpages and to put anyone through that seems criminal to me. The last time I tried to play nice with adfly, it gave page after page of pure poo, plus then after I was done, I had to close down a few (pun intended) pop up web pages. I know I have no say on this site but if this was my site, I would ban everyone who used adfly on their downloads. BTW, I don't use an ad blocker on this site because the ads are not obnoxious.

It is VERY PATHETIC....my IP never allows a DL, either...ha!
Normally, i just click.."Like"...if it's a Cool Pic - Better, not to even do that anymore.
Why do People use ADFly? Do they get Payed money, to help Hijack Browsers? Money over Morals, the never ending Joke.

I totally agree with you. I rarely download "adfly" stuff. If I do it I see so many "bad" ads that I am disgusted.
The "golden calf": If I well remember, it is a very old story. To be honest, I don't blame people who want or need some money, especially young people. There are some sites that I support and I enjoy doing it and during my long sims experience I participated to several donation drives... When I loved the stuff and people who created and shared it. What I dislike is people who release several downloads in a single day and you go through "adfly" for every item or set. Last but not least: It really bothers me when the "adfly" items are converted objects that their original creators shared for free. ;-|

I can handle a few ads, even bad ones but I went to one creator's page today and I couldn't even get to her downloads because of all the popups and ads. After a few minutes of that I decided that I really didn't want her items after all.

Well, maybe they are a Legitimate Business?
It's not like they would set up a Post Office Box as an actual Business Address...Right?
Oh, Sorry...Post Office Box in London...Bwahahaha!

Well, the good thing about this post is that it made me add an exception for S4S in my Adblock because it is true that they are not obnoxious. So, if it can help S4S I'm all for it
But on topic I hate adfly as well, even more when you have adblock, even if you add an exception, you need to load the page again, which lead to another one blocked again and again... such a load of poo -_-

Shortners don't bother me. What bothers me is a double or triple shortners. If I need something I will download it anyway, but when it goes through the shortner, then redirects to some other site, then I click download and see a shortner again that redirects me to simsdom where it says that I have adblock running that I have to disable and reload if I want to download an item faster than in 999 seconds, then I am getting really bored and just close the page.

This is REALLY annoying. Especially if you use AdGuard instead of adblock...

I use ublock and with that it's a total block so to get around that I have to disable ublock. I discovered that when I tried to download somebody's content here. Here is the message displayed:
Warning!
It appears that you have an advert blocking browser extension enabled.
Our Publishers use this revenue in order to monetize their websites and provide you with their content. To continue to your destination, you must white list our website in your software.
Adblock Plus users, click on Adblock plus icon, and deselect 'Enabled for this website'
There was no alternate link provided to get their stuff. They have a multitude of links (mediafire and simfileshare) but they all lead to adfly. When I unblocked adfly the first page comes up and states to wait, after waiting and skip ad the next page comes up and wants you to download third party crapware. There is no alternative to this and I refuse to install anything I don't want. As for their content, there is no sign of that, they might as well just post pictures with no actual stuff to download, maybe that is what they are doing, trying to generate income for adfly.
Edit: Here is what pops up on the next page:
This site says:
To continue the work of your browser you should install the extension!
System notification!
Important additions for your browser are downloading and installation is in progress. Press OK and install the extensions!
What extension? What are you trying to put on my computer? No fxxxing way! In order to get out of that screen I had to kill it in task manager.

Yay!! Chrome comes with adfly skipper! Wish I had found it sooner. No more adfly poo! And would have saved having to go on a rant about it. :P Now I can get that download I wanted.

The discussion about Adfly for CC downloads is a tough one. Early on, several creators indicated that they wanted the option to use Adfly in their Creator Studio. Since it's their space (their Creator Studio) and their creations we allowed it. I stand by that decision even though, like many above have said, I will not download from an Adfly link. I used to, but too many times I've had to vacuum unwanted poo off my computer after clicking an Adfly link. I've had to abruptly shut my computer down after having it forcefully controlled by some kind of "ware" or other that wouldn't let go. Clicking those links just isn't worth the annoyance and risk to me.
We have added a small icon that sits adjacent to any CC link provided on the site. That icon clearly shows the host of the link. This allows downloaders to make their own decision about what link to click before clicking it. When browsing the Creator Studio section you can find it just to the left of the link.
