Great tutorial i tried to build a transparent curtain. But already have problems, i want to change a curtain that don´t has the oooo at StateID. Using Joy. I only changed at ModelLod the first line and at Model/.../Lods the second line to 1. Its the GarboHanging curtain. Took the tutorial from Mammut of Blackypanthter she wrote a german tutorial for s4s/love, the pictures from her are the same as in s4s/joy. Cost me less of hours to find out, how to make a png transparent with gimp the result is not so good would like to have a little bit more white in the curtain back, but just for testing. its a little bit toooo transparent but ingame its white with flowers. Tried a lot of tutorials for making it halftransparent, but i wasnt able till yet.

Hi dragonheaart, I think the easiest way to accomplish what you want is to clone the tab top curtains I made and import your mesh into the .package to replace the tab top curtain mesh. You will also need to import your new texture images of course. The download is here: sims4studio.com/thread/1050/sheer-tab-top-curtain?page=1 Give that a try and if you run into further questions with your project please post again.

Hi Orangemittens,
thx for your answer. I downoaded your nice curtains and wil take a try. I tried the whole afternoon now the curtains are so transparent they are completely not to see in the game, think i am doing something wrong. Have to search the www for a tutorial how to make the png not completely transparent. But now i need a break. By the way i found a solution for a halftransparent png but if i put it into the dds its full white again, hm. Maybe i find my mistake tomorrow.
Greetings Dragonheart

Hi! I read and re-read the tutorial and tried to match to the changes that s4s had over the time since this was first posted. And i can't manage to get something working. My object is part glass and hopefully, an alpha enabled part also. I can't publish it publicly since it's a christmas present i'm doing for some friends. So my question is... is it possible to have both of those things combined in one? I tried using the recolorable cube (since i saw it had glass) as a base but it didn't had the alpha enabled. I checked in the materials, and all the "transparency" titles had 1 in there already. Does someone know how exactly is the title i need to change for the alpha now? Thanks! i'd send the my item via pm if needed!
edit1: nevermind! Got it working. Changed all the alphathreashold too. First defaults and also variants.

Hi kateecat, welcome to Studio forums. I've updated the tutorial so the illustrations now show the steps using the current version of Studio.

Hi Martine, I apologize for the confusion. Since this tutorial was written Studio's Warehouse has been updated to have everything labeled more helpfully and so that it more accurately reflects EA's .package structure. I need to get the illustrations updated and I'm sorry you ran into questions because I haven't done so yet. I'm glad you got it figured out!

If there is no alpha blended then you need to add one. Follow the steps given at step 12-15 in the tutorial.

Hi! I'm trying to add alpha to the recolorable rug in the studio but I can't seem to get it to work. :/ I've added the alphablended line to the mesh but nothing happens. Does anyone have any experiences with alpha rugs/is there one out there that I can clone or take a look at?

Hi allisas, EA's Magic Carpet rug is on an alpha. If you prefer to use the mesh from the Studio recolorable rug you can import that in to overwrite the EA mesh because all rugs (that I know of anyway) have just a single mesh group with a cut number of 0.

Hi, I got a question, this trick is working great but when I do the same to a wall light, will the part that haves to be transperant becomes black. There was no Alphablend so I did ad 1 (like you show in steps 12-15) but it still stays black, in s4s (using version 2.7.0.2 (jackpot))and in-game. What did go wrong? In all my other objects do I not have that problem. I also did test all basegame wall lights but they all got the same problem, also did try to inport .dds and .png it makes no difrent.
