Introduction
Sometimes you just don't want an EA object cluttering up your catalog. This tutorial will show you how to make it go away. This tutorial will use the Simplicity Dining Table as the example. The same method can be used to hide a custom content object or object swatch that you don't want showing in the catalog.
What you will need
Sims 4 Studio
Instructions
1. Open Studio and select Object Override. 2. Click the Object button.
Alternatively, if your object is a custom content object, open the .package using the My Projects button and jump ahead to step 4.
3. Select the item you wish to delete from your catalog and click the Next button. Name and save the .package.
4. Click the Warehouse tab.
5. Click the Type box in the upper right to sort the resources by type. Click on the first Object Catalog line. 6. Scroll down to the Common section and change the number in the DevCategoryFlags line so that it is 00000081. Repeat for each Object Catalog line.
If your item is a custom content object save the .package and test it in the game.
If you're hiding an EA object continue to step 7.
7. Delete the other resources in the .package.
8. When you're done it should have only the Object Catalog resources on the list. Click the Save button.
Check in the game. It will not show up in the catalog and it will not appear in a search.

Hi! I was wondering if there's any way to this with EA clothes, since I barely use them.. Thanks!

Hi laralu93, welcome to Studio forums. Clone the garment you don't want as a default override and do the tutorial steps up to step 4 using that instead of an object. Once you're in the Warehouse click on the first CAS Part line on the left side. On the right side scroll down until you see the Part Flags section. Remove the check mark that is in the ShowInUI box. Repeat for each of the CAS Part resources. Save the .package and put it in your Sims 4/Mods folder.

Does this still apply? I'm trying to hide some CC and it's still showing up in game. Curiously whenever I reload the package in S4S the 81 at the end of DevCategoryFlags has changed to A1. I edited the description to check the override itself was actually overriding, and that changed successfully.
I also tried just removing all the tags manually & that didn't work either (both through the studio tab & then through the warehouse tab).
Edit- After playing around some more I've realized that any changes I make in the object definition or object catalog (DevCategoryFlag, I've checked boxes to make unselectable/deletable, changed tuning_id, etc) will not apply to the object in game. The only part of my override that works is changing the actual name/description itself.
Edit2- Could this just be an issue with how overrides work on CC? I created a selective clone, cloning everything, checked it in game and it was an exact copy of the CC item. Making the same changes I tried on the override earlier successfully edited the new item, while those exact same changes in the override had no effect.

Sorry for bumping, still haven't figured out why the DevCategoryFlag is forcing itself to A1 instead of 81. Are there certain objects/CC that are simply locked into a specific flag for some reason?

Can you tell me which object you are trying to hide? Then I can try it for myself and see if it doesn't work for me either.

It's happened for a few things but the one I'm currently working on in PickyPikachu's Meduso plushie, HERE. For this specific item I can't change the DevCategoryFlag and simply deleting all the tags also didn't work to hide it (but I can successfully change price, name, and description).

Spirashun I've just tested it in my game and it does work in my case. Are you sure you're using S4Studio's latest version? (Although other versions should work too probably) All I did was changing the DevCategoryFlag to 81, then scroll all the way down and uncheck the checkbox "decorative" under unused2. Then save and move it into your Mods folder. It didn't showed up in my game. After changing everything back it did show again. I do have to say that it also changed the DevCategoryFlag to A1 after reopenig it. But that didn't stopped it from not showing up. But something I was wondering... this package file only contains ONE Object with only ONE Swatch... So if you don't want it to show, why don't you just delete this package file from your Mods folder? Unless you made a recolor and you need this package file for the mesh of course.

And that's incredibly strange, I'm doing the exact same thing you are as far as I can tell and it still shows up! Here's the .package of my override if you want to check for any differences? simfileshare.net/download/102418/I also retried making those changes on the original package and that successfully hid it, just to make sure I'm not going crazy lol!

Spirashun I think I already know what's happening. Just so I understand what mods you have and what you're doing.. - You have PickyPikachu's Meduso plushie in your Mods folder right? - Now you made an overwrite of that object and you changed the DevCategoryFlag into 81 and unchecked the decorative checkbox, after that saved it and also placed it into your Mods folder. Now where it went wrong is at the very start: So maybe you mis-read it or just entirely missed the red line. That happens to me too sometimes and if you did that the first 2 times, you probably never see it unless someone tells you about it, like now So what you need to do is: 1. Open Studio 2. Click the "My Projects" button 3. Select "PickyPikachu's Meduso plushie" package file and click "open" 4. Go to warehouse 5. Change the last 2 digits of "DevCategoryFlag" into 81 6. Uncheck Decorative 7. Save, place in Mods folder and test out in game! Now it WILL be hidden. >> Looks like you know how to do it, as you already changed the original file, but thought that that was not the way it should be done <<

Theoretically I was gonna share my recolor with an optional package that would hide the original, just for the sake of decluttering people's catalogs, which would need it to be an override instead of just an edit to the original. But I guess overriding CC in this way just isn't possible then?

SpirashunI think it isn't. Never tried that option though, but as Orangemittens already mentioned this in her tutorial, I think we can assume it isn't

On Step 3, "Select the item you wish to delete from your catalog and click the Next button. Name and save the .package."
Do we save it to the Packages folder?

You can save it wherever you want. Once you're done working with it you need to put it into your Documents/Sims 4/Mods folder in order for it to work.

Wow. THIS is something wonderful that was so desperately needed (EA makes such ugly content lol). I am about to test out my first "hidden" object and with that in mind, questions I had that may help another newbie, are: 1. Does it matter what you name it? No, but in just now doing my first one, I think I will start them all with "HIDDEN - [then object name]" 2. omg, OMG, am I screwing up anything? No. You are creating a new file, so you can always just delete it. Lastly, the completed file (if I did this correctly), is only 1kb. Yeay! ----------------------- And it worked like a charm! 5 done, hundreds to go ...
