Hi! I'm Nasr/Void and I'm EXTREMELY new to modding. I'm interested in trying to make more occult-focused content / adding more tattoos to help me practice with UV mapping since I'm primarily an artist. I'm hoping to learn some coding and all that good stuff to expand my skillset! Currently a Game Art student in Chicago, my twitter is trashyvoid / @clownvoid (homestuck side that i've been more active on) I look forward to chatting with all of you

Hello there everyone, I'm ThatLazySimmer. Despite I chose this name, the reason why I rarely play Sims is not because of laziness (although that plays a little part as well), but because It always seemed so complicated for me, but since I spend more time in front of my computer than in other consoles, this franchise always came back to my life. I remember playing the first game in my aunt's PC and like all sadistic little kids, I had the time of my life drowning my Sims. I also made a human shaped house, but I don't think anyone ever lived in It. I skipped Sims 2, simply because by the time I came back 3 was already out, so I wanted to play with that badly. Unfortunately, my computer (with i3 CPU and a terrible VGA) made It impossible. My current Laptop is capable of playing almost anything I want, but the S3 CAS still lagged like crazy and the overworld almost cooked my CPU. After beating through a couple of action-packed Wii games and bought a decent Laptop cooler, I decided to try and relax with something that requires a little less adrenaline. That's when I saw a random let's player doing a 100 baby challenge and she made the game look less severe than I used to think. I came back and happily saw that 4's CAS runs smoothly allowing me to create anything I want, without worrying about lag. I also came to the age when I want to keep a Burmese, a Birman, a Bombay and a Serengeti as pets, but my mom doesn't let for a lot of reasons. (They're expensive, they make a mess in the house, I'm not responsible enough, we have two big dogs, who would hurt them.) I understand she is right, but I wanted to do It nevertheless, so I decided to use this game to make my dream come true (Especially because the cats look gorgeous in this game!) That's all I guess. Thanks for having me. :-)

I know. I was a stupid kid back then. Now I wouldn't do that, although I do recall seeing a video about Ghost Sims can have different color depending on the way they died (for example, Red when they burned alive, yellow when they were electrocuted etc.)

The fact The Sims 4 runs so much smoother with less effort is one of the biggest pros for the game! We're glad to have you here and a part of this community!

Hi everybody My name's Katie AKA Peafrog I'm a puppeteer and theatre maker from Somerset in the UK (South West England!). Peafrog Puppetry used to be the name of my company, but it's got a new name now so I thought I'd put the name to good use! It was my nickname at college Because I'm small and wear bright colours haha. So I only bought Sims 4 last week because I needed cheering up, and 2 days ago I downloaded S4S and here I am already posting things in my own creator studio with bloomin' branding on it lol! (I already had the logo so don't judge me for being toooo keen!) The Sims was my absolute life growing up. I used to make CC for the Sims (maybe Sims 2? I can't even remember!) I seem to remember meeting some other kid on a forum and we would put band logos on t-shirts haha. Anyway, I do a lot of design work in various fields and I love the Sims so hopefully I'll be making some funky stuff you'll all enjoy :D I also have a serious problem of trying to make money out of any hobby I do, so I'm hoping I can keep this to FUN and not make it into work! Honestly, I got into paper crafts when I was a teenager and then started getting my friends and family to commission me to make their families' birthday cards lol. Peace out xxx

Hi everyone. I'm Mira and I recently started playing Sims 4 actively. I started years ago with the Sims 1 and from the first second I was fascinated by this game. I'm really addicted to CC, so I thought I want to try making my own CC too :D

First I want to say I am NOT trying to offend anybody. I am not being stuck up or a snob and apologize if I come across that way. With that warning let me introduce myself. I am a professional 3d modeler designer animator and as a hobby independent film maker. I don't work with Blender except for her to save work I have done in other programmes as a Blender file. I don;t work with Blender because it's not industry standard. Yes it's a free version of AutoCAD but industry standard for the gaming and the entertainment industry includes Maya/Maya LT, 3ds Max, ZBrush (Love ZBrush with a passion) Mudbox, Poser Pro, Daz Studio (which has the Genesis, Genesis 2, 3, and 8 models) Genesis allows for easier morphs when 3d modelling a hum/humanoid model. Morphs are what you call sliders. Everything has a morph. Prior to Genesis you would need specific morphs based on the model like Victoria, Michael and The Girl. When Genesis game out it made it much easier in the industry for stock models to be used even in the Sims I can tell you that Bella Goth is part The Girl and a little Victoria Supermodel based on her general appearance.) Don't believe me go to Daz Studio and look at all the beautiful stock models one can buy. I guarantee you can figure out which stock models were used in Daz for The Sims 4 and any video game that you enjoy playing after that. The Gaming industry uses stock models like The Freak Victoria The Girl and Aiko modify them for shortening them initial time for creating original models for their games. . I usually model people in Maya. Daz Studio Poser Pro and Maya are my three go to programmes for modeling. I admit I do use the stock models myself when crunched for time.I am doing spline modeling at present time for a project my husband is working on. It's Eldar Terrain he is building for Warhammer 40k. My husband is the love of my life. He is disabled with nobility issues that is worse in the winter and when it rains. and I am grateful I can work from home He does the same thing I do but focuses more on graphic arts while I do more 3d modeling. I love creating clothing in Daz. Some of my work the first 2 done in Maya and Daz Studio. Maya to model and Daz to apply the material. With each new version of Maya it seems autodesk got bored and decided to change how textures/shaders/materials are put on the model.and I feel that if I get frustrated enough I should find a tutorial on how to apply materials, lol. The scenery one is in Bryce. It's easier to do anything with Booleans in Bryce and when I am working on backgrounds I usually use Bryce. We both play miniatures games like Warhammer 40K (which is why I can rarely get the latest Sims 4 release when it comes out) and Malifaux. I play RPGs like Vampires, and D&D. I love card games like Vanguard which my niece got me into and LARPing (Live Action Role Playing) . It's like another reason to cosplay. If you just play video games you are still a real gamer though I have met plenty of gamers who would disagree with me thinking even Magic players are real gamers. I think if you like any form of gaming you are a gamer. My husband painted all my armies and builds, paints beautiful terrain for a local game store. I have two kitties Apollo and Calvin. Apollo is a therapy cat he lets me know when I need to take medicine and when to eat and when to sleep otherwise I would modelling all the time or using Adobe Illustrator or Cinema 4D and Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premier and sometimes Photoshop. Calvin is a sweetie loves to be petted. This is Apollo This is Calvin My experience with the modding community is that when I have given advice on what it could be like a rigging or a parenting issue I have been called a liar and that as a professional I have no idea what I am talking about. If I tell one of you that. It's because from what you are describing is just that from my experience. I should be offended by those who are like that but I am actually amused. Or I will ask if something I wish to model and bring over for the sims needs me to know scripting as well and nobody wants to help, I don't know how to do coding. I want to learn Python in case of such things. Like the one time I wanted to create an extra pair of usable arms to bring over into the the game and nobody had any answers for me and my question was ignored on the board I asked it on. I stopped coming up with ideas like that or even try to bring it into the game. I believe if you know something be willing to help out and not just a selected few or tell the the person asking the question I can't help you at this time but Alex over there is brilliant in Python why don't you go and ask them. If you don't know how to do something say hey I don't know how you would do that but I do believe you'll need to know some coding to pull that off. Or something like that. Sorry if it sounds like I am bashing the community of modders but I just sharing my experience on other boards when I have asked for help and given advice. I apologize if I offended any of you. I don't know any of you but if you were to help me on a project that involved coding I would not just thank you but I would give you full credit for the coding too. That is how I am. I have a dream that Sims 4 Studio will one day make it possible for other modelling programmes to be used other than Blender. Yes I understand it's a free programme but so is Daz Studio which comes with another free 3d modelling called Hexagon easy enough for somebody who has never done 3d modelling before and .can be used by professionals too. I usually forget I have the programme on my computer until it's time to download the latest Daz Studio. I do use Hexagon too. Both Hexagon and Daz I think are much more intuitive than Blender. (I used Blender in college because I hate 3ds Max with a passion.) I loved Blender back then but that was before finding learning about other modeling programmes. Daz has the Genesis 8 model out now. I get bored and make clothes for Genesis 3 and 8. I have been playing the Sims ever since the First Sims came out my favourite Sims games from the franchise are Sims 2 and Sims 3. I never used CC or Mods before Sims 4 because there was always enough to make the game non stop entertaining. I would be overjoyed when they had babies or adopted kids. I would cry when they died. Sims 4 I feel I have to add in CC and Mods to make the game interesting and more fun.

Hi drakharis ! It's great to meet you. You gave a very detailed introduction and a very interesting one. It's great to know people that have a career in 3d modeling coming to the forum. From my own experience in the forum we have a really nice community here. There's a lot of sharing and helping each other to solve problems. We have a free support section: "Creators Help" where everyone can go and assist if they know how to fix a problem another person have. (I've seen you've written some post there). About creating for the game. Python knowledge is not required at all. I guess it depends in the project you are trying to pull off, but mostly for CAS, Objects, Poses, you wouldn't need to. I learned a bit of python some weeks ago and was able to make my first script mod not far from now. However, I've modeled objects and some cas items for a long time. I'd recommend you to go to the INDEX of tutorials and look at them, we have intermediate, basic and advance tutorials. You can skip the parts about meshing of course, but check out the parts about porting the mesh to the game. (Make it compatible). Sims 4 has some extra requirements that need to be done for it to work. The way textures need to be applied, the space in a UV template (for CAS), etc. Nothing that you wouldn't understand ofcourse, but there's no need to go with trial and error when there's a lot of documentation already written here. If you have question you can ask in the tutorial's pages or open a Creators Help thread with an specific problem you need help. I'd love to see more of your creations (which I think are amazing) and interesting tips you could share to us. I'm sure you will be creating for the game in no time.

Hi drakharis, thank you for sharing your kitty photos, Calvin and Apollo are adorable AutoCAD is computer-aided design (CAD) software for architects, engineers, and construction professionals. It includes industry-specific features for architecture, mechanical engineering, and electrical design, among others. Blender, on the other hand, is a free and open source 3D creation suite that supports modeling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing and motion tracking, video editing, and game creation. Thus, the purposes and target users of the two tools are different. We chose to have Studio work directly with Blender because it is the most powerful and versatile 3D editor that was available for free at the time the Studio project began. We never considered Maya, 3DS Max, or similar high-end tools for the main interface because the vast majority of people in our community cannot afford tools like these. Those fortunate enough to be able to afford those tools can use Blender as a bridge to the game. Our goal was (and is) to make creating things for Sims 4 accessible to anyone who can run the game, regardless of their income level. At this point, years have been spent working on Studio and its interface with Blender, and there is strong community support for those who wish to learn to make things for the game using Studio and Blender (and loads of tutorials). People who want to use other tools for modeling (and Blender as a bridge) have been able to help one another accomplish this (a couple of staff members here use 3DS Max, for example). Any time available to work on the Studio project will be spent adding new features and expanding support for the use of Mac with Studio rather than adding new interfaces for 3D tools that most people in our community do not use and/or cannot afford because this will benefit the greatest number of people who want to make things for the game.
