so this tutorial show me how to make gif texture rght ? i still dont understand step 4 can you explain it more Hi hotelsims103, This tutorial explains how to get dynamical light on your clothing or other items in CAS that have meshes. If you have trouble following this written tutorial, I also made a video tutorial about this which you can pause after each step if you want. You can find it HEREIn step 4, you will link your emission map to the mesh. So if you click the geometry file and the part of the mesh appears where you want to have your dynamic light, then you can follow the other steps. You have to do this for each geometry file on which your dynamic light will appear. Again, for more info about this, watch my video tutorial. If you still have questions, ask on youtube or in this topic if you prefer a written tutorial

I have a small object I'd like to make glow... All of it, not just parts. Can this tutorial be applied? I saw mention of objects in previous comments, but it looks like those were posted a while ago.
Thanks!

Hi chicagonative, objects do not have an emission map like CAS items do. Instead EA uses the Light resource and various shaders to get different glowing effects. There is a Creator Help thread on the topic of glowing objects HERE that has additional discussion about ways to get an object to glow.

Great thanks! On a side note, if I do not manage to make glowing work, is there a way to make lamps default on and/or permanently on? I only ask because the object I am seeking to create is supposed to have the function of a radio, but it glows if that makes sense. I am creating this bedroom set from the Mass Effect games and want to include the glowing orange stereo/clock thing on the side table. In-game (Mass Effect) it only ever served to play music, so I want it to be able to play like a radio in-game (Sims 4). ETA: I'm not sure if objects can be multi-functional. For example, can an object be both a lamp AND a radio? If not, I need a way to make it light up on its own without the Sim having to turn it on, because it absolutely at the least needs to be able to be turned on and off as a radio. It would look ridiculous without the glow. Plus if I can get it to glow, I'll be able to create the wall switch as a wall decor.

chicagonative, the thread I linked you to above has gotten a little more interesting (possibly). The OP stumbled on a debug item that is referencing an emission map. I have yet to really look into it but it looks like an item worth experimenting with if you're interested in getting something to glow. You can make something like you're describing by creating your own tuning mod for the item.

If you are working on a project that in the texture doesn't have anything above the head you have to use 1024*1024. ( like a top, a bottom or shoes) I have few questions on the matter:
- So what if you do texture something above the neck? Just use 1024x2048? - are 2048x2048 (etc) double res textures possible? - Is it required to have a gray background on the alpha, and what grey is it? (128,128,128?) - will glow also work on textured but not meshed parts? (like.. you have a top, but some of the texture covers the head)... so far I have not been able to pull this off.
I'm trying to do some alien/magic items and want also stuff around/on the head to glow

It seems the blank emission map link is broken

It seems the blank emission map link is broken You don't really need a blank emission map, as you will have to make one yourself too like described in section B and C. If you're not really sure how to do that, you can also watch my video tutorial in which I will show you all the steps to make one of your own: How to add dynamic light to clothing
If you do know how to do that, then instead of number 3_C, take a look at section C, make your Emission map and then follow the rest of the steps, starting with number 4.

Hi all, due to the number of tutorials written for Studio, it's going to take me some time to update them all. If anyone would like to help with this endeavor, please let me know (feel welcome to PM me). The plan is for the online index to be completely updated.
