what's a good program to use to work on RGB layers and the alpha layer separately? i've been able to get flashing emission maps to work just fine with the tutorial, but exporting an image with a black alpha layer in GIMP to get a permanent light has only yielded transparent images without any of the RGB data. would this also be because i exported them as png instead of dds? I'm responding to an old post, I know, but yes, you need to use a DDS file. A PNG file won't support an alpha channel.

Hello, I want to ask a few questions, first if you are making a HQ texture file with the texture map being 2048 x 4096 would you still use the same 1024 x 1024 emission map? Second do you upload your emission map to the new file crated in the warehouse? Also if you do not do that and put the emission in the emission texture place, then do you have to upload as DDs? Because i did that and it turned half of my sims skin all white, like crazy white, so i put back the png file and it works but still throbs, I just want it to stop throbbing and I need the texture map to be bigger so the textures are cleaner. Thank you for your tutorial though, I have been trying to make good glowing clothes for some time.
