Hello, I followed this tutorial to make a top, and some people tell me when they use it, it overrides their nude top (my top shows in the shower instead of the original nude top). Do you have any idea of what could cause this?

Which version of Studio did you use to make the top?

The Alice version, but the problem doesn't appear when I try to reproduce it

Alice v 2.1.0.3 had a bug that was causing some items made with it to come out as default overrides of the EA item they were cloned from and it sounds like you used that version for your top. This would be difficult for you to detect because that top doesn't normally show up in the catalog anyway so it would only be noticed in the game in certain situations such as when the Sim takes a shower. I'm glad to hear that your downloaders reported this to you right away and equally glad that you reported it here right away. Due to community reports of this problem a hotfix version of Alice was posted the following day which fixed this bug so it's good that you can no longer reproduce it.

Well hmmm...it seems there is a field in the nude recolors that tells the game to use its texture image for the nude top the Sim puts on when using the shower. I'm looking into it and if anyone else knows which field it is please share

Will this work for cutting out of the mesh? I really don't know how to mesh, and it seems more complicated than recoloring, so I wanted to know if I can make a selection in the pattern, can I change the opacity to zero, and it wont show up at all.

Yes as long as what you want under the transparent part is skin.

I believe it works, just not for what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to make the background layer transparent. And thereis no way in Photoshop to opacitize that layer. I tried erasing the alpha layer in the spots I wanted it to be erased. I'm trying to think of a way around it...

What is the effect that you're going for? Do you have an example picture of a similar garment?

I am trying to make these panties, but it seems the only way you can make something transpaprent, is when you put the transparent layer over a garment, so I can make this right?:
I want to learn these things, because I make my recolors based off of real clothing, since it is hard to get patterns. Thanks.

You need to cut out the part you want to be transparent and paste it into a new layer. Then lighten the opacity in the layer those sections are in so they are more filmy looking on the image. The filmier they are on your image the filmier they will be in the game.

Thanks. This can be done with Photoshop, it's just a slightly different workflow. In order to make it work correctly, the part that you want semi-transparent will need to be at a shade of grey on the alpha layer as opposed to completely black. The only reason it would need to be placed on top of another image is for placement purposes.
